Supply problem Testors. Yes, because testors is bankrupt. As for model kits, yes, sadly they are no longer carrying kits at all.

Since this is your first post, welcome to the forum. Really?!  Where exactly did you read that?  What is your reputable sources for this information?  Testors is just a brand name under the Rustoleum brand, which in turn is owned by a giant chemical manufacturer named RPM.  Testors would not just go bankrupt.

Besides, Michaels didn't just carry Testors paint products.  Kits they sold were made by other manufacturers (Testors never actually produced any of their own kits, and they were all reboxings of other manufacturer's kits anyway).

Really!? Interesting. How do you know this? What is the source of your information?

If you are in Maine, Reny's is a great department store worth checking out. There are a few near the Portland area and I was surprised to find they sells kits and Testors paint.

A few years ago I shopped at Reny's in Ellsworth, Maine. But did not see any Reny's in Bangor. This was close to 10 years ago.

I was at the local Michaels store (Saint John, NB, Canada) on Friday and they had a few Revell kits. They had the Rev. '71 Mustang Boss 351 $39.99.

Unfortunately the only coupon was 40% off on line orders.   When the email flyer arrived, there was a 30% coupon.  I went yesterday and noticed there was a variety of Revell kits .  I purchased the '71 Mustang .

I was told that hobby shops wanting to sell Revell kits, have to purchase their complete line.  Vehicles, Boats, Planes, etc.

If this is the case, there is probably a problem with Michael's distribution system.  The exchange rate certainly affects the price of model kits in Canada. $1.37 today.

It may change on the lead-up to Christmas, but the Michaels in Dartmouth had none two months ago.

Here in Sault Ontario, Michaels has absoultely no trace of kits or supplies. They used to have a whole isle dedicated to model cars, and then they got pushed to one shelf on the back wall, and now there's like puzzles and stuff. Kinda unfortunate, but being a border town, usually just get across the bridge to Sault Michigan and into Hobby Lobby, or farther down to St. Ignace where there's a real neat model car shop, and one in downtown Traverse city.

This morning (Fri - Aug 30, 2024) I went to Michaels in Dartmouth and they had four copies of the Revell 71 Boss 351 Mustang. So I picked up one and used their 40% off coupon. The model's regular price was $39.99 and I paid $23.99, plus 3.60 tax for 27.59. I was told they had a few more different Revell car models which were all sold out with more to come.

Cheers Ken, that's good to know. Even the regular price is the best I've seen locally.

I have to extend a thanks to both Ken and Trevor. It has been quite a while since I have checked out a Michaels, mostly due to the decline in the model section. With a 40% coupon, I went for a visit. I was pleasantly surprised to find the new Revell '71 Boss 351 Mustang at $39.99. After taking off 40% and adding back tax, it was $27.11, which is a really good price these days.

The two other Michaels in Halifax area (Bedford and Byaers Lake in Halifax) were sold out of car models. But I was told more are expected soon.

With those 30 & 40 percent off coupons, Michaels may not have the best selection, BUT they have the very best prices in Halifax.

All we need in Canada is Hobby Lobby. The closes one to me is in Bangor, Maine. And Hobby Lobby also offers coupons as well.

I notice too that Hobby Lobby here locally, has cut down their selection of model kits. I would say 1/3 less or maybe even half, from a year or two ago. Also I don't see the 40% off on plastic models sign as often. Or else I've just hit it wrong. This is SE MA USA. We have a well stocked hobby store less than a mile away from HL, if you can stand his prices. But they have about every kit out there, currently in production from major brands.

The Michaels near me just got a truck load of Jeep Wranglers and Revell Mustangs in. But it was the 442 that followed me home.?

I saw these kits in a new Michael's store in Kenosha, Wisconsin, several weeks ago. A lot of Revell and Airfix on one side, with a section of Gundam kits across the aisle. Was pleasantly surprised to see the Revell Evil Iron trike there.

If ever I saw a Bandai Gundam kit in a Canadian Michaels, I would buy it for the pure joy you usually experience in building a Bandai kit.

Though not Hobby Lobby, I have heard that a Great Hobbies branch is opening in Dartmouth Crossing in the next few months. Not sure how good they are for plastic kits, but any new hobby type store will be welcome around here.
