Now, for a special treat, the new 71 Demon kit.  This has been a grail kit for a long time.  I've really wanted one in the collection for years, as I liked them a bit more than the Duster.  However, the vintage kits are at outrageous prices.  I was excited when they announced the new kit.

This kit is great!  I liken it to the old 71 Duster kit.  The only flaw I found was a hood fit issue, so I had to glue it shut.  It would stick up on the front right or in the left back.  The rear spoiler I think is also too thick.  I did also find a head scratcher with the chassis.  You have to poke out the holes for the exhaust, a feature you need stock or custom, but there are holes already in the suspension for the custom drag bars.  Kinda weird.  You also have to cut out the holes for the scoops, which is weird since you're adding strips and wouldn't be able to see them once the decals are on.  Not to mention having to cut holes in the decals for the scoops.  I just cut off the prongs and glued them straight on.  Over all, the kit is an excellent kit, and makes a great looking model car!

Very nice build, I always liked the Chrysler high impact colors. Thanks for the tips about the minor issues. That will be useful since I have 2 on order.

Nice work looks Awesome
I still trying to get 2 of them one to make a factory stock 71 and one to mod into a factory stock 72

That was something I forgot to mention.  It does have the decals for the 72 hood paint scheme, but much like the decals for the Revell Boss 302, it's just the sides and you have to fill in some blank space with paint.  It doesn't have the blower scoop or grill for the 72 though.

I have a resin version of the 72 hood scoop and it should not be that hard to mod the grille

That definitely will make a preacher of the Church of the Almighty Cubic Inch Displacement and Sanctified  Smoking Tire want to lay hands on it and command that Demon to come out!.......and take me for a spin around the block.  Can I git a Amen!  Lol.

So I am starting this week on my Demon  and doing it in Gunmetal Grey or Winchester Grey whichever they call it.  Yours turned out really good and thanks for the info regarding the build.  Congratulations.

Beautiful build! I love the sublime green the most out of those old Mopar colors (Plum Crazy being a close 2nd). Is this an all new tooling?

It's supposed to be.  Builds nicely, except for the hood.  Getting the chassis to snapped together took a little effort, but not too much.

Thanks for the pics. I just watch a white glue buildup.  I have one on the bench right now. As I used to own a real bright blue 71 Demon 340 And was quite giddy when I heard this kit was coming.

I have an original MPC builder but broke some of the tail light bars. So in the box it went

Well done, Love the Sassy Grass green

A long awaited kit. My LHS sold out as soon as they went out . I had pre order mine and looking at yours I can't wait to start building. Great job and that color does it justice.

Good to know. I was wondering what all the hype was about. The car looks like a Duster & a Dart had a baby, Lol.

Pretty much.  It is the Dodge counterpart to the Duster and the Dart did share a grill with it.
