kelson Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Welcome,on the bench now is the Trumpeter 63'Nova had this one in the stash at least 20 years,so decided to finally build it. Color is MCW Saddle tan a nice low key color, got a couple flaws in the paint to sand out. 4
CA Whitecloud Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 That's pretty wild the box art shows Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, Oregon. That's less than 100 miles from me! Cool. AND, I'm working on a Nova as well. I don't know what restaurant that is on the box. 2
Zippi Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 That'll be a nice build. That MCW MCW Saddle tan looks pretty kewl. 2

kelson Posted March 15, 2024 Author Posted March 15, 2024 Been awhile since i posted any updates: kit has no decals so i ordered a couple sets from Keith Marks couple weeks ago.I decided i would go with a car driven spring to fall so i did some weathering on the engine and chassis. Engine installed with decals added, i drilled out the snorkel on the air cleaner 4
kelson Posted March 15, 2024 Author Posted March 15, 2024 Work is pretty much complete on the interior,no ignition switch on the dashboard so i added one and P/E keys to and Keith Marks decals,i airbrushed a mixture of light tan and gloss brown for the interior colors Lastlyi saw a few pictures online where the trunk had a printed pattern so i added the detail using some old scale motorsport decals. 5
dino246gt Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 WOW! That looks great, nice interior work! Mine was, shall we say, not quite as nice! 4
espo Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Like the body and interior colors. Many times, GM as well as others would use a material much like a very thin vinyl blanket with a design of some sort to cover the trunks metal interior floor. Probably more to protect objects in the trunk from rolling around and prevent the metal from getting scratched and starting to rust. Your pattern looks very much like the real thing. 1
Steve H Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 Nice work on this one so far Curtis. The trunk mat is a nice touch. 1
Moparman18064 Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 This is going really well, enjoying this build 1
Noah H. Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 This build is looking great, I especially like the inline-6. I've not seen model cars from Trumpeter before, I thought they mostly made model ships, tanks, and military vehicles. Do they make lots of model car kits, or only a few? 1
Oldriginal86 Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 I’m also working on two Novas. Great looking interior and engine. I would like to find a Trumpeter Nova but they are a bit pricey. 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 I worked at a Phillips 66 Service Station back in '86. A fella came in driving a '63 Chevy II SS that was a 4 cylinder and 3 speed on the floor. Was a cool car. 1

I think it around 10-15 cars if i remember correctly, for some reason this kit and the convertible version are really pricey.?♂️ 1

I agree,i bought the coupe and convertible version when they came out around 2004-2005,they seem to be heading price wise into the Meng ford f350 range.
CA Whitecloud Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Very nice work, I gotta get some of those PE keys, awesome. My '64 RestoMod Nova is coming along. Nowhere near you caliber, but hey, it's green. PS. The lighting is horrible. The Tamiya Metallic Candy Green went down nice. 4

kelson Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Thanks for the positive comments everyone!,okay another update, since seatbelts weren't offered by the factory, only dealer installed i decided to add some which really improved the appearance. Something that bothered me about the console it had no shift pattern,so in a moment of craziness i attempted to make it using a piece of wire taken from some spark plug wire. After lots of failed attempts i settled on one,i just covered it with a piece of Matte Aluminum foil and burnished it down on the console.Interior complete and installedAfter installing the steering wheel and taking this picture,i was shocked at how oversized the steering wheel was,so i looked at the instructions and realized the large outer ring is there to prevent the steering wheel from warpage and needs to be cut off!,luckily i didn't glue it on it just slides on.Hopeful to wrap up this build by the end of the month. 4
kelson Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 Hey everyone back with another update:,i decided to install the outer chrome trim and Bmf the body and do the window trim airbrushing Molotove chrome, then clearcoats. The kit includes some P/E so i detailed them and then glued them on and installed the glass. I painted the back panel Tamiya Bare metal silver and added more P/E to the hood and trunk. Lastly i added some Canadian plates from Best modelcarparts, hopefullly finish this build this weekend.? 4
espo Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Great looking body trim. Like the interior colors. 1
