Roadworthy Rescues Wrecker

Recommended Posts

This is the '79 Dodge wrecker from the 2nd episode of Roadworthy Rescues on the Motor Trend channel.  The base model is the MPC 77 Dodge W250.  All that remains of the kit is the cab, interior, rear axle and springs, and front half of the chassis.  The wrecker is mostly 3d printed, including the rear half of the frame, bed floor, bed sides, winch, frames and all towing hardware.  The engine is from the AMT 340 Duster, with air cleaner from the AMT 71 Charger (one snorkel removed.)  2wd front suspension and crossmember is from the AMT Little Red Express.  The '79 grille is 3d printed from my own design.  The 1:1 has 2 broken cab marker lights, so I did the same.  Paint is acrylic craft paint, sanded to reveal the primer underneath.  Dually wheels are all 3d printed from my own design.  The tires are cloned in resin from the (old) MPC Dodge Warlock kit.  All the lettering is done by hand as I am not very good with decals.  "Bring the Thunder" on the front bumper is not true to the 1:1 but I couldn't help myself!  There is a build thread in the WIP section if you're interested.  Hope you like!

Great looking paint finishes and all the dented-up trim and lights. I'm also a regular viewer of the program. He may not make them prity, but they do run despite the problems encountered. Some of his terminology for different parts and their function sound a little corny, but he does seem to know what he's doing. Your finish on the bed and boom along with the faded paint job look just as I remembered from that show.
