ranma Posted February 6 Posted February 6 3 hours ago, LennyB said: if you have a letter or package going to someone across town I remember about 30 or so years ago any mail that was marked with an in town address it was delivered the next day as it never left town. Then USPS decided that after a couple hundred of years doing this needed to be changed! So on to a sorting center it went. In Ohio that meant it went to Toledo , Columbus, Dayton, Cincinatti, Cleveland, Or Akron before going back to hometown. Then in order to serve customers better they closed several of those centers down to only around 3 centers in the early 2000's. Now we have the Magic of Mr.Louis DeJoy at hand......... 2

We used to have two drop shoots at the post office, one for local mail and one for out of town. Not anymore. 2
LennyB Posted February 7 Posted February 7 So the PO was a no show today. Hopefully they decide to come by tomorrow o pickup the mail. 1
TransAmMike Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Throwing my latest experience. Ordered paint that was shipped Feb 6 out of south Texas to me here in middle Tennessee, south of Nashville. Here it is Feb 14 (8 days) and not here yet. Heck, even the tracking doesn't say when it will arrive. Ridiculous !!😡
LennyB Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Figure this one out. Most days mail delivery shows up between 4 and 5 PM. Today it shows up at 10:30 AM. We have a winter storm coming later today. Does this mean our carrier can actually move and get the job done if she wants to. Or did she chicken out all together and a substitute filled in today. I didn't see who was driving the mail truck this morning.
Old Buckaroo Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Local news for Billings Montana, a Postal worker employed at the package sorting facility was stealing sports cards. He boosted a collection then tried to sell it back to the store who had originally shipped it to another collector. LennyB Posted February 21 Posted February 21 So now I know how my models get warped, the FedEx Time Warp. 2
Tim W. SoCal Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Louis DeJoy announced that he is resigning as Postmaster General and USPS CEO last Tuesday. Maybe things will start to get better, but there is a pretty big chance that they will just get worse...
LennyB Posted February 28 Posted February 28 So every week we get a bundle of flyers with coupons delivered, they get delivered to every household and the Postal Carrier receives them wrapped in a bundle bound with plastic straps. Evey so often on the day these flyers are delivered I find a few straps lying on the ground underneath my mailbox. This happened again two days ago as you can see below. This time there were three of them, one was camera shy. I took them tied them up in a nice bow, put them back in my mailbox and put the flag up. Came home last night and they were gone. Do you think the carrier got the hint? 1
TonyK Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I see big rubber bands lying on the street in front of the cluster boxes so I assume they were used around bundles of something or other. I have to smile when I think how hard it must be to bend over and pick these up when dropped. 1

Big John Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I don't think they speak Italian at the post office... Good thing it was only an old rubber tire ashtray, but still... 1 2

Dave Van Posted March 1 Posted March 1 A single regular kit sent from NJ to WV. Sent to Indianapolis IN where it has 'ARRIVED' and 'DEPARTED' every day for four days now and still sits there today. Agreed a First world issue. Who thinks that 'good logistics' Is to ship a box from NJ to Indiana, to sit, and then travel again the same distance in the opposite direction? Just which Monkey is in charge? FYI the Postmaster of the USPS resigned last week after notified DOGE was coming. Telling 2
HomerS Posted March 1 Posted March 1 The flyer/discount coupon for the Dayton Ohio Toy Show on February 16th arrived today (March 1st). It's postmarked January 28th from Columbus, Ohio. I live in the Cincinnati area! 1 2 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted March 3 Posted March 3 USPS is working pretty well for me lately. Maybe all those complaints I made to supervisors and supervisors of supervisors and big muckety mucks actually had some effect in my region. Nah. Just random chance. 1 1
