vamach1 Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) I grabbed this kit out of storage about a week ago and may have set a record for the fastest build I have done in years. It is a very basic curbside kit painted with Rustoleum color shift spray paint sold at Hobby Lobby. The recommended base coat of black was sprayed on and wet sanded and the enough coats of the Color Shift paint was sprayed on until it looked just right. It’s a curbside kit so no engine and the interior is very basic but I did detail the dash and added decals for the gauges. The only other colors I used were brown, flat black, silver, metallic red and orange, and blue and white for the DeTomaso wheels center caps. The purple and blue paint came out nice without having to add any clear. Total build time was about six hours over four days. Edited May 1, 2024 by vamach1 Build time 7
michelle Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 that turned out awesome great work going to have to get a can of that on amazon now
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Pretty sweet "quick-builder!" I'm going to have to try that paint out. I've had a can of it for a couple of years now. 1
Rich Chernosky Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Now that is what I call purple. That finish is quite dazzeling. I have used those color shift finishes and they are difficult to get right, but you have nailed this one Rex. Sometimes the quick builds turn out the best.
ea0863 Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Came out great Rex, and I too love the purple paint. I am also really impressed with the finish on the rims. Were they silver right out of the box, or did you paint those as well? They are a perfect brushed stainless steel look.

The wheels need minimal touch up but for a decades old Japanese ARII motorized kit the finish was very good. 1
espo Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. Been wanting to try this type of paint but had been worried about how it would look.
karbuildr Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Very cool build. I definitely like the color shift paint.
PappyD340 Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Great looking Pantera, that paint looks quite at home on this car, well done!
XYHARRY Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 Cool look on this Pantera, well done Rex. Cheers, David. ??
vamach1 Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 (edited) To my surprise I found a vendor at at model show selling basically same kit I used for the purple Pantera and there were two slightly different ones in the box. Better than that I got them both for $20. Edited May 20, 2024 by vamach1
Bullybeef Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Nicely done, I have one of those old kits, mine is missing the glass
