Oh boy...." hey Dave, Dave M needs some help, go grab Dave D and Dave J and on the way over pick up Dave A and bring him along...."  ? .   I know all about that. I was JD for 19 years.

Sorry for the confusion Jim . . . I do try to sign off my posts with ' David W. ', so that I am not confused with ' David G. '

Oh...sorry, Dave W, I was just clowning as I am especially fond of doing. There is an abundance of members that have been given that great Biblical moniker. I have known many in my life. Davids are there in my earliest memories; some were very good friends. No apologies needed...uh...David ?

Sorry, David G, I had to clear that up.

Consider the matter cleared up, Jim . . . I guessed you must be clowning, so it's all part of the good fun on here !

Your Detail Painting and Finishing skills are superb, David G.

I really like how the interior came out. Nice touch using those parts box lenses.

Hello Everybody!

The Ford Galaxie has been absorbing most of my bench time lately but I did manage to get some work done on the Futura in spite of that.

The Figures are finished! I didn't go overboard with the detail.

Because most of the detail will be difficult to see once they're in the car.

I know it's not a big update but it's what I have for now.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to post any comments you may wish to share.

I think your figures look just right David, and any further detail might have comprised their period correct features . . . Well done Sir !

Now that's actual talent, Dave! The figures are superb and the Futura is fabulous.  I love it!

Edit:  We have Hummels that don't look that good !

She cleans up pretty good David.? And the car is looking great!?

Thank you Greg. The kit takes some persuasion but I think it yields a pretty good likeness when all is said and done.

I'll join the others on the figures. I think you did a fantastic job on them. They look very period correct and compliment the car perfectly.

Thank you Mozzi, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I wanted them to be noticeable but not distracting.

Hello Everybody!

The progress is slow but there is progress.

Now it's time to tackle the next challenge, the chrome trim that surrounds the entire car. I've removed the parts form their sprues so I can strip away the abysmal "chrome" from the kit. Maybe Monogram anticipated such actions as they thoughtfully cast an "R" into the right-hand trim sections.

First order of business, the obligatory test fit!

Of course there alignment and fit issues. Now I have to determine what is a matter of adjustment and what will require modification. And then decide how much "incorrectness" I can live with.

Just to let you all know, starting on July 11th I'll be away from the boards for a few weeks.

I should be back by August.

Of course, please feel free to post your comments in my absence, I'll catch up on them when I return.

Hello Everybody!

I'm back from vacation! I had a delightful time driving across nearly the entire North American continent. I got to reconnect with family and friends and had the pleasure of meeting my our first grandchild.

As grand as all that was, I have to admit that I did miss the "thrill of the build" and occasionally thought about what I would tackle next at the bench when I returned.

So now here I am and I find that I'm having some small amount of difficulty getting back into the building state of mind.  Given that, it's best to start with something simple to rebuild the lost momentum.

Needing a diversion from the daunting task of dealing with fitting and finishing the side moldings and bumpers, I decided to take on something a little less challenging. Adjusting and fitting the tail lights.

As provided in the kit, the tail lights were waaay too large and thick to fit into their proper locations. Pictured here is the result of a couple of build sessions of filing and fitting. I used Molotow ink to repair the damage to the chrome plating and a red Sharpie pen to color the lenses.

Here are the tail lights properly installed.

As a bonus, I applied some BMF and a blackwash to the "cat ear" vents to punch up their appearance.

That's all for this update.

As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment if one should wish.
