Matt Bacon Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 (edited) And if we’re talking riffs, has there ever been one better than this? Only 50 years or so between performances… best, M. Edited June 6, 2024 by Matt Bacon
slusher Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 If yo don’t like the song listen to the guitar starting around 4.30.. 1

FoMoCo66 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I have to include mho. Dire Straight: Money For Nothing The Surfacis: Wipe Out (I also love the drums) There's probably more I just can't recall them right now.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 A few of my favorite songs that contain riffs that really bring out the "air guitar" for me. The Hollies: "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress". Heart: "Barracuda". Dire Straits: "Sultans of Swing". Steve 1
Muncie Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 All good stuff. I would go with something played live. There are lots of great, I mean great guitar sounds out there. Burt the best is live, not recorded in any way. Live adds so much to it.to add a place time, where, who you're with... there is more to that list. I'll go with JR Simms. He is the guy that took over when Stevie Ray Vaughn passed away. When - about 20 years ago, on a sunny Sunday in June. Where - at Timberline Lodge at 6,000 feet on Mt Hood following a hike to the cabin at 7,000 feet. There was an event with a concert playing at the front of the lodge. I came down the trail and could recognize JR Simms. A good hike turned into a great day. Great topic, I'm picking up some good things that I need to find. 1
bobss396 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Nobody a Joe Walsh fan? He and Don Felder woke up the Eagles when they joined up. 6
JollySipper Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Here's a good riff for y'all! Has a really nice solo, too...... 2

TNT Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Way to many to even list, of course not too many in modern day music. But there is one that the whole song would qualify, stevie ray vaughn's lenny.

In my opinion, Walsh is in the top ten of the all time greats! Another of the “under rated” is David Gilmour of Pink Floyd! Absolutely a distinctive style that’s instantly recognizable. Steve
