Does anybody know if, or where, I can find some photo etched block letters?

I need something roughly 1mm x 1mm to reproduce the "GRAND PRIX" lettering on the trunk lid and lower front quarters for a '69 GP.

Thanks folks!

0.1mm?  That would be 0.004"!  That is about twice the thickness of typing paper. That seems way too small.   Those in 1:25 would be only 0.1" tall. What size are the 1:1 letters?

Sorry.

should have been 1mm.

While some etched metal letters are available, I highly doubt that you'll find anything close to the style (font) of the letters used on that Grand Prix, and I know you are very fastidious builder.

I wouldn’t need them at all if it were not for a couple of factors.

First, the scripts on the trunk lid are present and in fine condition, but unfortunately there is a rather pronounced sink mark running through the middle of them the entire width of the trunk lid that will require repairs, which will ultimately obliterate the scripts.

On the front quarters, I can leave the GRAND PRIX scripts, but as the car is to be converted from a model SJ into a model J, some changes will be required in at least that portion of the scripts.

You could possibly make a mold of the letters and cast them in resin? Or possibly slice them off with a fresh sharp exacto blade…or maybe a razor blade and re-use them?

Foil cast them.

Since you have the basics to start with, That is what I would try 1st. 2nd option make a 3D print of the entire deck lid.

That's always been an avenue to pursue, but I wanted to see what my alternatives were before I committed to that.

PE scripts would of course be a less involved option.

The Grand Prix lettering falls through the cracks, as MCG has not done a photoetch set for any GP.  Pontiac used that style lettering for quite a while, but only one GP kit ('65) pops up every few years.  And that one doesn't have "Grand Prix" spelled out in that lettering style, unfortunately.

Yes, there are companies doing chemical metal milling  (photoetching), but to be economical you have to design your own artwork, and order more than a single quantity of the  etching.

Funny, that company is within about 50 miles from where I am.

That was my assumption.

probably cost prohibitive for a one off.
