Napster isn't working right now, so I've been listening to my Cake CD this morning..... It's the WalMart variant that I must have had for about twenty years. There's no 'Parental Advisory' label on it, as wally world wouldn't carry anything that had that label. There should be the advisory label on it, as one of the songs has that ef word in it a few times..... They were supposed to edit it out. However the 'word' is there, plain as day! What they did with this album was to just remove the advisory label so WalWorld would carry it........... They didn't censor a darn thing! Kinda slipped it under the radar......

I've always thought that was kinda funny, and fitting of Cake's snarky attitude........  B)

I have never herd of Cake..

Carl, you're in for a treat if you ever decide to check them out........ They're very easy to listen to! You hear a lot of different influences in their music. This is the song I introduce people to Cake with. It's the first song on their best album, their second album.

Funny thing about censorship as it pertains to music formats ; I can think of a couple of examples which either slid-through and/or were considered benign at the time :

1.) Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side

2.) Jefferson Airplane's We Could be Together (esp. on the Dick Cavett Show)

3.) Take a Whiff on Me by Leadbelly

These are just off the top of my head.

It's not really a 'dad joke' until it becomes apparent............ ;)

PS I always thought she was kinda cute, Ms. Loeb. Some of her music was listenable, too.......

I like pie about as much as anybody, but this sure looks like Cheesecake to me. I'll take a Raspberry Cheesecake myself.

They've done covers of several popular songs, there's two covers on the Fashion Nugget album....... 'I Will Survive' is one, the other is this Willie Nelson tune!

"Lola" from The Kinks back when I was young. Either we didn't have much in the way of censorship then or they didn't pick up on it. I remember some other kids didn't get it and I was happy to explain it.

As mentioned above; Walk On The Wild Side. Censorship wasn't in our face yet.

I don't recall "Walk on the Wild Side" getting any airplay on Chicago's WLS; thus when DJ John Landecker somehow got access to the music track without the vocals and redid it as "Make a Date with the Watergate" it was a new song to me!
