Luc Janssens Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I wonder if, somewhere down the line, the Kats will tool up engine families to be released in parts packs and, from then on, included in full detail kits, which previously were marketed as curbside.
Chris V Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 This is absolutely wonderful news! Curbside or not, I'll gladly buy a case of the Nomads. The grille and body detail appears to be vastly improved from the original AMT "Craftsman" kit. Given the shared tooling of the original kits, I can't be the only one hoping that the '60 ElCamino will return down the line?
Cliff W Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 How many tail lights on the Nomad? If I recall correctly, the original tool had three on each side which was incorrect. (Should be two) Hoping that they fixed that rather than cloning the same error.
Mark C. Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 A minor point that I'm curious about on the '60 Nomad - did they fix the taillight situation? The original promo/Craftsman kit had triple taillights (well, 2 taillights plus backup lights) like the Implala, whereas the 1:1 wagons had 2 taillights per side. I've attached an illustration from a 1960 brochure and a pic to show what they should look like. Either way I'm buying multiples, but I'm hoping that this has been fixed up. Thanks Tim, for the pics and info, and Round2 for bringing back some of these kits I've wanted for decades!! 3
Ragtop Man Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Got to look at the buildups at the show, cautiously impressed with the table 'presence' and engraving of both the wagon and Barracuda. The wagon "X" frame was particularly well done, had to look twice to see if it was a traditional platform type. Should respond well to weathering/painting/washes. Hoping the dimensions lend themselves to bashing with the outstanding Revell '60 Impala...
Stef Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Super excited and stoked to get these new kits; Round 2 continues to hit home run after home run!
W-409 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 This is an excellent news, the '60 Chevy Wagon is a kit that I will need multiples copies for sure. No matter if it's a curbside, the engine bay can be modified from some existing kit. Luckily I have 1:1 scale '60 Impala in the garage so I have plenty of reference material. I've had a '60 Nomad resin body for years, I've been waiting for my building skills to improve so that I could build it into a really nice model. But now with a new version of that car coming, I think it's time to build the resin version. Barracuda is another must have for me, so much potential for several different types of builds on that kit. And it will make kitbashing possible, to create for example, a stock '66 Barracuda. 1

tim boyd Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) I have now posted additional photos at the NNL Motor City New Product News album, starting with image #40. This includes the latest from Atomic City/Jo-Han, Few Sprues Loose LLC, and Missing Link. And while Norm Veber wasn't at the show, I've also added in the very latest addition to his Replicas and Miniatures product catalog at the end of this album. Be sure to read the captions for each picture to get all the new news. And as always, thanks for looking....TB Here's the linky.... Edited November 11, 2024 by tim boyd 1

Bucky Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I wasn't expecting the Imperials! I have 8 of the '68 promos, and a 1:1 Imperial Crown convertible in the driveway to build a replica of. I've been trying to acquire a '67 Imperial promo for years. Maybe my quest will be easier if and when these come out. 1

I hope that Round2 adjusts that tail panel and its lamps - those are too squared on the inside ; outside looks fine. Yes, I realise that this is a prototype - likely a 3D print - but hopefully that panel'll be rectified. AMD Auto Metal Direct 72 Plymouth Duster Tail Light Panel 900-1372 1
Justin Porter Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 I have to admit that AMT has made two very appealing announcements here. The Barracuda chassis is promising, too.

Hmmm...it's like they cast this as if the horizontal dividing bar was part of the bodywork separating upper and lower taillights, in reality it looks like it's a trim piece over the taillamps.. Part of the issue is in the print quality but checking the 3D files I can see where there is not a clearly defined separation between the tail lamp housings and the rear body panel. The original kit body was no better. I have already sent notes on this. Thanks for the comments. -Steve 5 1
steveracer Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Looks more like a Ventura! Certainly those taillamps are "not right".

64Comet404 Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Glad I can finally stop looking around for a '60 Nomad; nearly impossible to find at shows. Hopefully an ElCamino is in the works, as the majority of them that have survived have every included part glued to the poor kit! I see that the Barracuda is being described as a '64 1/2 and a '65. As I already have a '65 kit in the stash, I hope we get the '64 with the Valiant script.

Also, for those wondering, a shot of the back of my annual '72 Duster. Hard to tell but the divider bar in the tail lights was molded as part of the body. 2
Mark C. Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I’ve already brainstormed a ‘59 Parkwood wagon conversion using the ‘60 Nomad and ‘59 El Camino…
