Some fine looking work there Bob, what colour/paint did you use for the seats?

I've got to get better at reading.

I read "Rust-Oleum Satin Warm Camel" on the first Pass. It sounded like a real colour to me.......

I got just a little bit done on the ole Willy's this morning.  Doors have been hinged, Decals applied, and the Interior is completed.  I hate it when they attach the headlights to the tree at the most visible spot.  Going to have to airbrush some Molotow Chrome on both headlights.

I've got the dash glued in and setting up.  The door hinges I mad are a little tight and sometimes when I close the doors the spring back just a little.  That's really bugging me.  I'm going to airbrush the headlights with the chrome from a Molotow pen but I need some suggestions on what to do about the glass area.  I don't won't to leave it all chrome.

You could drill and file them out and use clear lenses before you chrome the buckets...I know fiddley  stuff, ..or

Paint 'em

Coming together really nice Bob! For the headlights, lots of options including what Bruce said above 👆. I believe there is at least one thread on the various approaches to dealing with the chrome lenses. It’s either in the question section, or tips and tutorials…

I apologize if I missed it, but where are the gauge decals from? Really like those.

Thanks for your input.  That could have worked but yesterday I went ahead and painted the headlights gloss black so I could shoot the chrome on today.

Thank's Steve.  I'll take a look and see what I can find.

Well, here's a tip I'd never thought I'd share, but I'm going to just for nostalgia's sake.

Back in the day when chrome headlights were the norm, I would try to paint headlights solid white, but they never looked right. I eventually came across a "solution" - a little Elmer's glue mixed with a tiny drop of white acrylic paint. I would coat the chrome headlights with a thin layer or two of the stuff. It was almost like a tint. It was translucent enough to still see the details underneath, but no longer looked like shiny chrome. It also had the bonus of being easily removable with water if something didn't work out. Once I was happy with the results, I would seal it with a quick drop of Future (stolen from a bottle sitting under the kitchen sink) for a glassy look. Definitely low tech stuff, but in my 10 year old mind, they looked much better than the chrome headlights.

These days, we've got different clear coats and translucent paints and panel accent liners that would work leagues better than white glue and paint. There are also decals out there that look pretty good. I think the one thing you might to have to work around with decals is the shape of the Willys headlight lens, which isn't perfectly round, but that's small stuff.

BTW, I dig the interior color, it really pops against the Tamiya Blue-Violet.

Thanks DJ.  Much appreciated.

I shot the chrome on this morning which is the chrome from a Molotow pen shot threw my airbrush.  I didn't think about whatever I do to the glass will have to be over the chrome I just shot on.

I'm going to try a white wash on the glass area of the headlights but I think I've painted myself in a corner.  Now the question is, how to pick up the headlights to place them on the body without smearing the Molotow chrome and getting glue on the body.

I was setting here firing up my 3D printer getting ready to test some new resin and and Idea popped into my head.  I'm going to be putting a white wash on the lens area anyway so why not use tape.

I've never used Molotow chrome - is it that fragile?

Unfortunately things didn't go well installing the headlights.

Well that sucks muffins. I hope I didn't jinx you!

Zippi,Rich Manson would take clear head light lens and use clear coat and put them over chrome headlights on his models. Just remember that and wanted too tell you.

I think those headlight bezels could be foiled after they are installed Bob. Just a thought.

Yeah, probably so but that's water under the bridge now.  They have been airbrushed and installed and...I messed one side up big time.

Thank Carl.  The headlights on the 41 are dome shaped so I don't think that would have worked on this build.
