A challenging build, just like a challenging relationship can take it's toll. So after the head scratcher BMW 3.5csl I needed something smooth and easy, something Out of Box. Call it a rebound build?

Hasegawa provided the perfect remedy, the lovely Lancia Stratos kit. I built it without a single change, I even followed the instructions...

Pierre...what a great way to make a recovery. And it turned out so nice. You and I are a lot alike in this respect. After spending more than a month of steady work on my 1/12 Ferrari 641/2 I needed something to keep my creativity up or I was going to face burnout.  A Hasegawa 1/24 Datsun 2000 convertible was just the ticket.

What's up, Pierre? Out of the box? According to the instructions?

Very unusual for you, I would say. But as usual, a very nice model !

As this is one of my favorite sports cars (have 8 Hasegawa Stratos kits in my stash, but have not built any yet):  Are there any important points to be noted when building? Have you discovered any issues?

Great! It's a car I always wanted to see in person. Challenging decals for sure.

I'd love to see one to. Closest I got  was a Fiat X1/9. Same designer, looks fast, goes slow...😀

Very nice. Great work on the paint and decals.

A fairly simple but eye pleasing graphic design but pretty easy to do. I would have done the chassis Alitalia theme but scared to try.

Indeed sir. My first Hasegawa and I would say it refreshed me about the same way a Tamiya would. Now ready to take on something a little more demanding.

I know my friend, this is not my usual modus operandi. I'm back, just starting something new..and old.

About this kit. It is a lovely kit and it builds very much like a good Tamiya. The only notable challenge is mating the chassis to body requires to spread the body very wide (the body sides curve in so much). I tested it a few times before painting everything and also glued the glass only at the top edge to avoid stressing it while spreading the body sides.

At least being Hasegawa I assume there is no engine detail to worry about?

Looks good Pierre, and only 2 colours as well, that must have been very relaxing prior to starting the SSK .

A striking model, Pierre.  It's nice when an uncomplicated build turns out to be a looker.  The decals don't look uncomplicated, though.

Exact sir, no engine on this one. Engines are not easy to do well and I won't avoid the task with the SSK.

Nice! I've built a couple of these and they turn out great. I haven't seen this livery though...is it Hasegawa?

It is a Hasegawa, purchased recently at the local hobby store, so perhaps a newer release. I picked this one for the simpler decal scheme.

Thank you Ken. Easy compared to the decals on my last build, and excellent quality.

Cool lancia! Very sharp build, hopefully its refilled your confidence for your more challenging build!

Thanks Atin, not really a confidence issue but more about taking it easy for one build. This one was as easy and straightforward as it gets. Good little kit.

Very nicely done Pierre, as others have said the decals over the louvers look great!

Perhaps the one part of the build I did not appreciate. Open louvers are great... until you have to decal over them.

Beautiful build, and further proof that there's no such thing as an ugly Stratos.

Indeed Bill. When lists of beautiful cars are made the Stratos is always left out, but it is an all time favorite of mine.
