Sam I Am Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I have mine sorted out. I have the chassis cleaned up and ready for primer. 3
stitchdup Posted January 4 Posted January 4 i opened the boot yesterday but had to wait on the light for pics. i added the strip of styrene before cutting along the glass to give it some more strength. opening the boot also made it much easier to fix the massive sink marks on the bootlid. so far it looks like a wont need the resin lid, though it does fit. and i've included the only pic i've been able to find for inside a zakspeed trunk 4

Mattilacken Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Have had a lot of fine tuning and sanding the last day. But today I started on the auxiliary fuel tank. Seems like the total combine would be 440liters so it might do the job. 3
oldcarfan Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Well, all the family has left and I have time to work on my entry. Unfortunately I woke this morning with a stuffy nose and a fever. I did manage to get the body painted a cheery orange, so that's something. Here's hoping I'm better in the next couple of days. 1
Beans Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Wife and daughter went to see Wicked so I had time to start filling the groove in the frame and do some engine assembly. 3

atomicholiday Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Got the body, hood, and engine in white primer now. I also did some test shots of a couple of shades of orange paint. I don’t have anything here that’s grabbing me, so next time I get to a hobby shop I’ll have to see what they have. Edited January 5 by atomicholiday 3
atomicholiday Posted January 5 Posted January 5 One more update for the day. The seats in this kit don’t have backs to them. Always looked unfinished to me, so this time around, that will be corrected. After the glue has fully cured, I’ll shape the inserts to conform to the seats. 4
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Been looking for a better chassis for the maverick and found a great choice. Will be using the chassis from a monogram 427 Cobra. My Maverick will be the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing.. working to do a mockup shortly and will take some pictures. 6
Mattilacken Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 The Cuda have gotten its first coat of primer on most of its parts. 4
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) OK I got some work done. I had an assembled Cobra frame to do a proof of concept. Next step will be finding wheels and tires next. I have another kit I will use for the chassis. Also I have an idea on the engine I will reveal latter. I decided to try the wheels and tires from the Cobra and have decided to use them. I think this is shaping up nicely. Next up will be the engine. Edited January 6 by bobthehobbyguy 5
Sam I Am Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I finally have some progress. The chassis is coming along, and of course the basic mock up. Spoiler, it won't be a go fast color, 'cause you can't fly under the radar with any of those. 😉 I won't be able to finish the drive train due to missing engine parts. I boxed this kit up from various new sprues and did not notice that the top end of the engine was missing. I had another glue bomb engine but I can't get the heads, valve covers, and intake off. So I will put a request in the wanted section. 6

Awesome concept! 1 1
Mattilacken Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 So I have made a classic Michelin Radial that was available in 1975. I as of now have tree sizes width. Outer diameter Inner diameter 11mm 28,8mm 16,3mm 12mm. 28,5mm. 17,7mm 13mm. 29,3mm. 17,7mm All these are nice measurements for our builds, at least any 1/24. The first tire above is same size as Revells Good year Radial GT. If any one want a 3D file for a tire or two even in any other size I can make it and send it in email. 4

If i ever get my 3d printer up and running again I'll have to hit you up. 1
Beans Posted January 7 Posted January 7 While going down a rabbit hole of vehicle requirements for 1975 (to see if I needed bumpers to be road legal) I came across this, which was evidently a new requirement for 1975: Brakes All vehicles, except motorcycles, must have brakes that can stop and hold the vehicle, and that are effective on at least two wheels. Now I was young back in the 70s but still don't remember cars driving around with brakes on only 1 wheel. 1 2

spencer1984 Posted January 7 Posted January 7 It's been a while since I did a Cannonball, mostly because I struggle for ideas. Was struggling this year as well, but I think I finally have it: Plain brown wrapper, high output engine, no one would look at it twice and anyone that did would assume it to be an unmarked. I think I have a Missing Link '71 body to turn it into a proper Gator McKlusky car, but have to do some digging in the stash to confirm. 4
Fat Brian Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Here is the replacement for the Revell kit, the Hasegawa Type 1 kit. 4
stitchdup Posted January 8 Posted January 8 can i check some of the rules please. are we racing in 1974 or today? an orange car would stand out less in 1974 than it would today and modern parts are allowed for brakes and suspension in historic racing which could sneak under the rules if we're racing today. As it is cars aready skirting the rules, but you'll see that once i clean some things up. I have my arguements and shakey evidence ready, lol

It’s entirely up to you what color the car is but I would say that try to apply the 1975 availability rule. I will not say that any one will not be eligible to compete due to using moderns brakes per say and in the end I would hope that in the vote by the end of the year am voters will be taking in to account that this should be a race in 1975 and whom have captured that the best. I would say, try to think was this available in 1975. 2
426 pack Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I never got around to putting a model together last year but I'll see if I can change that this year. I'll be building a 66 Belvedere form moebius, I think i'm going to leave it mostly stock appearing on the outside but I have some ideas for under the hood... 2
