Ace-Garageguy Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) The model cars used in The Giant Gila Monster... ...with my favorite being the valiant hero '32 Ford roadster that gave everything to save its humans from the rampaging lizard. Edited January 28 by Ace-Garageguy 5

George V. Higgins mentions cars quite a lot in his novels - at the risk of going on ad nauseam here : Friends of Eddie Coyle. There's even more car references in the novel than in the (excellent) film.
JollySipper Posted January 29 Posted January 29 There was a VERY short lived TV show that was a spin-off of Smokey and the Bandit......... The hero car in it was a Dodge Stealth! I've always liked those, and their sister car the 3000GT.......... V6, twin turbo on some, AWD, what's not to like? 2
Mattilacken Posted February 10 Posted February 10 O man, there’s so many nice movie cars that I like. But the first that came to mind was Eleanor but it has with when it came and what I had seen up to that point. Before that the Vanishing point Challenger from ‘97 was one of my favorite movie cars. Now days one of my favorites are more or less all the Aston’s in the James Bond movies, Especially the DB5 and DBS. And then the Laguna from Cannonball is an other favorite of mine as well as many of the cars in the FnF saga. 2
Sketch1982 Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Favorite movie car of all time is the '51 Merc that Stallone drove in Cobra. Honorable mentions are Milner's top gas (top fuel in the movie) dragster, the '41 Willys from Hot Rod (great gearhead movie), & the Firebird funny car from Fast Company (horrible movie, but good drag racing scenes LOL!)

Little Timmy Posted February 14 Posted February 14 They actually had Barris build 3 cars for "The Car". All Three were destroyed during filming.
Russell C Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Adding a bit to the Mustang favoritism in this thread, I'd have to say my top movie favorite - seen almost entirely too briefly onscreen or too far away - is the off road-ish Shelby Mustang in the Thomas Crowne Affair remake. Mostly because it is in my favorite color, in a fabulous tropical setting, and is a bit on the blasphemous side ... 1
espo Posted February 16 Posted February 16 A lot of good car chase movies but Bullitt set the bar in my mind. Between the music and the buildup with the "cat and mouse" just before the chase starts. 2
dmthamade Posted February 17 Posted February 17 California kid, Movie car with the steelies, could do without the side pipes. Don

89AKurt Posted February 18 Posted February 18 OH oh! 🤩 I can answer this with zero reservation now! Gumball Rally is a top 5 favorite movie, some was filmed in my town. One of the antique auto club's founding members just passed away, at the memorial service, family said the movie company paid him $400 to close his gas station for a day. Always loved the Daytona, built the Fujimi kit last century, entered it in my first contest, no awards at all, but a fellow model club member encouraged me to continue, and I have. Anyways, a Fakebook contact of mine who works on real cool cars (building a Speed Racer from scratch), and makes resin models, brokered this car for a deceased friend's widow. Sent the check today, if you have to ask, it's about $1.5 million less than the real thing. I'm calling it a Fakearri 350GTS Daytona Spyder, because it's a '69 Corvette with a boob job. 😅 I'm already wanting to put Cibie lights on it, like the movie car. I never owned a sports car before, love them, just couldn't swing it before, so this is my retirement gift. I see there is a forum in England for kit cars, found a thread about this Robinhood body, so I might join just to post pictures of sunny AZ, Route 66, Grand Canyon, autocross, etc. 😁 3
