Mr mopar Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Just got an E Mail saying there next 1/16th funny car will be a Plymouth Duster ?
Chris in Berwyn Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) Yes, the 1/16 McCulloch Revellution Duster. Wonder what decals Atlantis will offer? Edited January 11 by Chris in Berwyn 1
Daddyfink Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I really wish they would tool at least one new body for this kit. Like a 'Cuda, Mustang or Camaro. I know, it would not be cheap and they are operating on a shoestring budget. 2

Mark Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Revell did tool a Mustang body, but its proportions were, to put it mildly, unfortunate. The Ed Mc Culloch car had a Duster body but its grille and taillight details were painted to simulate a Dodge Demon. None of the fiberglass funny car body makers ever did an actual Demon body, all of the "Demon" funny cars back then used Duster bodies. Some of the later "Challengers" used Barracuda bodies with Dodge grille and taillight detail airbrushed on. The 'Cuda body probably had better aero than the available Challenger bodies. 3
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Great to see this kit back. As far as a new body goes it's more likely something that a 3d printer would do. Don't see that there would be enough of a market to justify the cost of producing a new body.
oldcarfan Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I love they are able to rerelease these kits. There's a lot of nostalgia tied up in that tooling. I doubt they'll reach the point where they are able to do their own tooling for new releases, but who knows?

I am talking 1/16 scale, not 1/25
Edsel-Dan Posted January 13 Posted January 13 What happened to the 1/32 56 Buick Customized kit?? That 1 is shown in the catalog, but I have not seen it out yet. Also wondering about the MoPar 62's!! Have the Newport convert. would like the others too
Casey Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Seems this would be a good choice, especially considering Atlantis released the U.S. Marines version of the Grand Am: 2

Not to mention tooling up all new front skinnies and rear slicks, which are a HUGE upgrade over the old hollow Revell rear slicks. AND Atlantis offers the the tires separately. Very appreciative of that. 🙂 @Dave Van, did Atlantis have to create all-new clear parts for the 1/16 F/Cs, do you know? I recall an issue with the Vega windshield, but not if it was all-new or just needed a lot of repair and attention.
Bill Eh? Posted February 25 Posted February 25 You can only hope that this box art has not gone to print. LOL 1

Bill Eh? Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) Jesse, apparently the subtlety of where the apostrophe needs to be placed was beyond the understanding of the box top art designer. LOL In spite of the 23' designation, I will still buy this kit as I appreciate Jim Keeler's input and his involvement with these re-releases. Edited February 26 by Bill Eh? 1 1
