Thank you David, I struggle a bit with making interiors interesting, but hopefully not too busy. 1
Steve H Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 Another update, The chassis is now finished, or at least close. I’ll add a few more small details but it’s close. Kinda nice seeing the engine in its new home. I made some rear shocks from aluminum tubing and styrene rod. Nothing fancy, but better than the “LEGO” blocks. Driveshaft is aluminum tubing. Obviously still need exhaust, but that will happen once the body and chassis become one for the final time. I feel like I must be getting close… 10
David G. Posted March 18 Posted March 18 The engine is gorgeous and I like the red accents on the chassis. David G.
BK9300 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 It’s very cool to see all the details, like the drilled disc brakes and that beautiful engine. Also, did you highlight paint the chrome carriage bolts on underside of the frame, or did you use dress pin heads? Looks very convincing, in any event!

I’m getting close to the finish line on this one. On 3/18/2025 at 6:02 AM, David G. said: The engine is gorgeous and I like the red accents on the chassis. David G. Thanks David, I would like to take credit for the engine, but… well, it’s just a beautiful looking engine. Something I “TRY” to do on my builds, is tie together a few colours with some sort of continuity. The small hits of chrome here and there are consistent as well. Just a little chrome tho. Roger was much better with colour than I am, but I still think he would approve. Just a dab of Molotow on the carriage bolts. It really is a fantastic looking engine, I still can’t believe I didn’t use it on another build at some point. Glad it was still available for this build! Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys, much appreciated. Hoping to get this wrapped up soon. Having said that, this has been a really enjoyable build thread. So grateful for all of the sharing here.
Steve H Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 More progress, Got the glass, and trim pieces added to the body, then attached the interior tub. The rad support has air intake trumpets which is where the blower intake pipes will connect. Also modified the kit air horn, and mounted it on the rad support as well, also added an electric fan. The door handles are actually GM units from fireball model works. I initially had “Tyner KY” decals at the back below the tailgate. Unfortunately the decals were old, a bit yellowed, and did not like the clearcoat. So those were carefully removed, and the Hayes speed shop decals added. Still have a few small details to add, such as painting the tailgate chains, and door locks. The chassis has a few lines added, and is ready for installation. Inching closer to completion… 9 1
Steve H Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 Hi all, Very rewarding build session today! Got the body mounted to the chassis for the last time. The engine compartment is pretty much done, probably a few touch ups here and there to do. As I had mentioned earlier, didn’t get too carried away with engine details, just a few hoses, and lines. Added a wiper motor, brake master cylinder, windshield washer fluid jug, fuel lines, a 3d printed battery with scratch built battery terminals (female), and battery cables, and the coolant pipe was modified to suit. I must say, I think this is one of the best looking engines I have built. Not the most detailed, but man, it looks good. I’m not saying that to toot my own horn, it’s just a great looking motor. Still need to scratch build an exhaust system, might add a few other chassis details, attach bumpers, and grill. Some detail painting and then it’s about done… 7 1
Steve H Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 So, I have been holding off on posting this link. I actually thought maybe someone would beat me to it. This was one of Roger’s last completed builds, and I absolutely love this car. I had fully intended to start building a 64 Nova in a similar style back in early 2023, but got sidetracked by those pesky bench squirrels. I will still do the Nova, but probably about a year away, I have at least2 more builds ahead of it. I have been waiting till near the end of this thread to post this as it does somewhat tie-in to my next project which will be a pro street 67 Beaumont. For anyone newer here, or if you haven’t seen Plowboy’s work, I would encourage you to click on the links that have been posted throughout this thread, and check out his amazing work. I can’t recall EXACTLY all the work Roger did just to correct the body on the below build, but I know the rear window was completely redone. If I recall correctly, he actually had a “mini WIP” just on the body mods. Enjoy…. 4
Mattilacken Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Looks great mate! Engine is a gem and looks so clean! nice work there!
AmericanMuscleFan Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Superb engine bay Steve, the high color contrast between the engine, gold radiator top tank and the cabin is superb, another home run in the making! 👍
Chuckyg1 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 That's absolutely wonderful. So clean and precise. It all fits together so wonderfully and looks great.

The colours play nice I think… glad you approve sir. 2 hours ago, Chuckyg1 said: That's absolutely wonderful. So clean and precise. It all fits together so wonderfully and looks great. Hi John, I was surprised at how much the engine filled up under the hood. Also very pleased as it gives the truck some serious attitude. I appreciate your comments.
David G. Posted March 25 Posted March 25 You're right Steve, that is one beautiful engine! Everything else looks great too. David G.
BK9300 Posted March 25 Posted March 25 This is turning out to be another magnificent build, Steve - once up on its ‘feet’ again, will be an even more amazing looking truck!

Steve H Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 Hi folks, got this build “almost” completed now. I have added a rubber mat to protect the box from damage when hauling parts to and from the speed shop. Found some Kentucky license plates, the bumpers and grill are now attached, and exhaust is done. Still to do: paint the tailgate chains, and door locks, add a nav antenna, probably a few touch ups, and I MIGHT add a few more details to the chassis. I will add a couple photos once I get those final little details done, but she’s pretty much done. This has been a very enjoyable build for me, I hope it has brought back some memories of Plowboy’s contributions to this board. Thanks to all of you that have been following along and taking the time to comment, and share your thoughts, I’ve truly enjoyed hearing from you. There a few of you following quietly in the background, and I very much appreciate that too. If anyone wants to add more links, or photos of Roger’s (Plowboy) creations, please feel free to do so. Cheers, Steve 5
NOBLNG Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Fantastic work Steve! I’m sure Roger would be impressed as am I.😎
AmericanMuscleFan Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Great work Steve, we recognize both Roger and your style since you share several tastes, the low to the ground position being the most obvious! In your own way, you are perpetuating the admirable work of a great modeler who left us too soon. Your passion for the hobby helps demonstrate that it can be much more than just assembling a simple styrene kit. Hats off my friend! 🎩
BK9300 Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Terrific build, Steve. Easy to appreciate all the detail you've added along the way. Very clean, fast looking truck!
Steve H Posted March 29 Author Posted March 29 Finished!! I still need more/better photos, but here is a teaser in the meantime. Weather permitting, I hope to get more photos tomorrow. I will gather my thoughts, and do a final post soon. Thanks again for following along folks. 3

I hope to one day build at the level Roger did, got a ways to go yet.
