Ace-Garageguy Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Claiming to be from docusign and saying an unauthorized withdrawal of 400 odd dollars was made from a PayPal account. Do NOT click any of the links, download the app, or directly access the site. It's an obvious fake and I've already forwarded it to PayPal's actual "spoof" team. To verify it's a fake, simply log in to your PayPal account directly (NOT FROM THE EMAIL LINK) and look at your activity. 5
Mike C Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Whenever I get any suspected scam emails like that I always log in from my own web browser's bookmark and log in that way to verify it. 1 1
Redisetta Posted February 18 Posted February 18 It’s a real shame that this happens so frequently anymore. I’m getting scam emails everyday and now I’m also getting scam texts. Bad actors have been around since forever, I guess they’re just moving to the interwebs and our phones to prey on unsuspecting people who fall for their scams. ☹️ Ray 1
Mike C Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Yeah, I get these scam emails for "payment didn't go through" for accounts I don't even have on payments that were never made except for Netflix. But I know the Netflix ones are scams too. 1
Rob Hall Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) I've been getting those (PayPal scams) about once a week for $399. Edited February 19 by Rob Hall
Mike C Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Another one I've been getting that I just saw today is the "money has been deposited in my Cashaap account". I don't have any such account either. 1
LennyB Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Daily thing for me. Latest I've seen is a text from E-Zpass saying I have an overdue bill. Instructs you to log into a bogus website. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Wonderful career opportunities for the morality-free folks that "technology" has provided. Should be interesting when all the thieving little weasels figure out how to get AI to do it better.

Oh shoot that is a scary thought usually poor English, grammar or ridiculous suggestions are the red flag. The scum could use AI to iron all that out 1
Dave Van Posted February 19 Posted February 19 A twist on an old favorite. I will add I have had a few scammers use my name, making it seem real. But as stated...never click links. Go direct and check yourself. Then flag e-mail as a scammer so the mail service and look into it. thx 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 Three more attempts from the same source this morning already. Kinda hoping the new admin will do something about internet fraud... 1

Kinda hoping the new admin will do something about internet fraud... New admin where? On this forum? Or do you mean "the new U.S. gubermint"? "Admin" when referring to some computer relate thing usually mean system administrator. The only way to stop this insanity would be to shut down Internet or nuke the entire world (including U.S.), and neither ain't happening. The Pandora's box has been opened and there is no going back to sanity. 1

The Pandora's box has been opened and there is no going back to sanity. Legislation is years behind the reality of the "digital age" because most legislators are apparently ignorant of the workings of "technology" more in depth than taking selfies and posting on social media. Enforceable legislation that has a basis in reality and what's required to combat fraud with the same tech that currently makes it possible is needed. But to paraphrase Henry Ford: whether you think something can be done, or you think it can't, you're right. Edited February 21 by Ace-Garageguy CLARITY 1
Mike C Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I keep getting these scams in my inbox just about daily. Of course they go straight to the Spam box: 1
Brutalform Posted February 26 Posted February 26 These morons with this new PayPal Doc Sign scam are so stupid, they make it obvious it’s a scam. I get like four of them in a row in my mail inbox. I’d think only one would suffice. I keep marking them junk, but somehow they still get through. I get them like once or twice a week. And there is always more than one. 1

Likely someone with limited knowledge of English and American business practices creates a template which is then sold to thousands of scammers to be used to be sent out to their SPAM mailing lists. Lots of stuff happens on the Dark Web. 1
Mike C Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Here's another scam I just got on SMS from "TEMU" only it's not. 1
slusher Posted March 9 Posted March 9 This scam was on Fox News this morning and a new phone scam with PayPal.. 1
LennyB Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Unfortunately there must be enough people in this world that fall for these scams so these con artists continue to do it. 3
Mike C Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I just got a text yesterday that had a .pdf attachment, no text message and came from an unknown phone number. I certainly didn't look at the .pdf, I just deleted it and reported it as junk.
Mike C Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Here's a good website to got to about scams: https://www.scam-detector.com/
