Falcon Ranchero Posted February 19 Posted February 19 See anything odd about the package art for the ‘61 Impala?
TonyK Posted February 19 Posted February 19 How do things like that get by people?! Maybe they think it will be highly collectable. Not with me. 1

Yeah I just bought it because the car was pretty nice, but yeah how oblivious could someone be to put a Ford Logo on an otherwise Chevy product
rattle can man Posted February 19 Posted February 19 No offense intended to the Chevy guys, but perhaps someone was smart and put a Ford drivetrain in it? Says the anti-Chevy guy. Who plans to re-power all of his Chevy powered model kits with anything other than Chevy engines.

1930fordpickup Posted February 19 Posted February 19 The only way this could happen as an honest mistake ( I am giving huge liberties with this) would be for the template of the logo and colors was mot switched on the computers screen before the photo and text were changed out. After a lunch on friday or a hung over monday morning . This I find funny and made the cheapest product(brand) GM offered worth more. . 2
espo Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Where was this model and the packaging made? There are some parts of the world that may not know the difference between a Ford and a Chevrolet or even be able to understand the writing on the packaging. On the other hand, hang on to this since I'm sure it will become a sought-after collectable for its unique packaging. 1

Good point, but I just realized the '54 Corvair packaging is the exact same template but it has the Chevy logo
ranma Posted March 4 Posted March 4 To Most collector's The packaging was ruined when it was opened. They would rather it been completely intact with the car inside!

I have Auto world and match box cars that are still sealed inside and there well over 10 years old now. There still clear with no amber yellow tinge.

I had this type of blister packs turn yellow even when I bought them new and nobody has ever smoked in my house. I originally suspected the UV rays doing this, but I found yellowed plastic when it was stored in a dark cardboard box. Go figure . . . 1

I've had this happen with Sealed Cars I bought in the 2003-2005 time frame. 1

Is there any doubt that anything made in the last several decades was made in China? And also as it was mentioned, once the package was opened and model removed, the value just dropped (even if this happens to be a a rare printing error).
Falcon Ranchero Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 I didn't care too much about the value; I just thought both cars were cool so I bought them and opened them to look at more closely before adding them to the rest of the opened collection of zero value. Just the Ford logo on the packaging I thought was odd.
JollySipper Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Nathan, man! These are probably worth at least buying two of each.......... One to open, one to shelve! My old man has a little toy from McDonald's that is about 40 years or so old. It's the Hamburgular in a little pull-back car, still in it's blister (on a card! ). They were so mass-produced, but went to kids who destroyed them....... There's not any telling what it's worth (maybe not much), but it is worth more in it's original package....... 1

There was only one of each; but I know what you mean about value and what not; for me when it comes to cars in a blister pack, out they come. Grew up opening every singe hotwheels, matchbox, and yes even some johnny lightings found me in my early years. I'm still young enough to view those less as collectibles and more as, well, I don't want to say "toys" but more like in the hotwheels category. It's sort of amusing that some people cringe over stuff like that, maybe I will to in the next 50 years looking back, but for now, technically I'm still a kid and have loads of more things to worry about than the possible value of a johnny lighting car in the next 40 some years. 1

The last sentence of my post was meant to be a tung in cheek remark.
Rodent Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I was hoping that the 10 cases of the Revell "429" Corvette that I bought were going to fund an early retirement, but alas no. 😂
