Like I need to start another build.

But DDA collectibles continue to manufacture new kits of Australian cars.

This time around the newest release is a ute 😁

So as always with my builds it starts with the stance.

Out of the box mock to see where its at. And get an overall feel for the kit and its design.

Good to see in this kit that the bumpers are chromed from the factory.

Far out, that first mock-up looks great

Yeah its okay I guess if your into the factory stock 4x4 farm ute style 🤣

I grew up around street machine style, so it will always be an influence with my Aussie car builds 😉

Bit of planning before the body prep.

Not interested in using the stock inline 6 cylinder. Seems to be a decent base to build off and add some extra details, so I will build it anyway to see if I can get it looking decent.

Going to do and engine swap with the one from the DDA XW Custom Slammed sedan kit.

DDA identify it as a cross ram injected coyote engine, so I assume something like this 🤷‍♂️

Whilst prep'n the body done a few mods.

Filled in the mounting holes for the sill mould trim.

Hole punched a 5mm disc out of 1mm styrene sheet for a flush mount fuel cap.

Shaved the door locks

And again with 1mm styrene sheet filled in the spare wheel access panel/door to create a smoothed out roll pan.

That first mock up shows the body to be quite nicely proportioned, still waiting for mine to arrive. I like what you’re doing with yours, I’ll be following your progress. 👍🏻

This is very cool. So I guess they didnt include an aftermarket cross flow head we here they make in Australia for the straight 6. That Coyote is bad azz.

Nah, 221ci with the stock version kit.  Im pretty sure when they release the custom version of the XY ute kits, one will have a supercharged Barra.

The design and assembly of the bed is a bit different. Not my favourite DDA kit ive built, but its a Aussie ute so I can get past my grievances 😄
