Horrorshow Posted March 12 Posted March 12 First build of the year, I’m taking the AMT 59 Cadillac Ambulance kit and converting it into a Nomad. Lots of cutting, sanding and puttying. First time trying to modify a kit this drastically. I opened the wheel wells to fit larger tires, I then cut approximately 3/4” out of the body and chassis. It came out pretty straight. I’ll have to wait until the weather gets a little warmer to start the putty and sanding. 7
Badge73 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Really good start, I will for sure keep following this build. You may have to cut the gurney in half as well! Hahaha 1
johnyrotten Posted March 12 Posted March 12 This is a really cool idea. What's the plan, gasser wagon ?

Horrorshow Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 Finally got some warm weather. Filed the rough edges, cut the interior tub and glass, glued in the rear section of glass, glued the body together and the chassis, glued styrene onto the glass to give it a panel look… next step, putty. 6
johnyrotten Posted April 14 Posted April 14 This just got real interesting. Awesome choice making it a "panel".

slusher Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Body is looking nice short lookiing forward to the body work!
Horrorshow Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 First round of putty and sanding completed. A light coat of primer shows me the spots that need a redo. However, the vigorous sanding seemed to have activated my kidney stones, been out of commission for a week. 1

Zippi Posted April 23 Posted April 23 That's a Great looking project. I'll tag along and see what direction you go with it.
Horrorshow Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 Second round of putty/sanding/primer is complete. Glued on the fins. Still needs a few putty touch ups. 6
Zippi Posted April 30 Posted April 30 I'm liking what I see here Jack. That's going to be a Bad looking ride.
Horrorshow Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Third round of putty/sanding/primer is complete. Still some imperfections but good enough for me. A coat of matte black and now I’ll have to wait a few days before applying tape and another color. 1
Horrorshow Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 Masked it, sprayed purple, unmasked. Didn’t turn out like I imagined. Think I’ll sand it down and try again with a solid color. I’ll leave spider webs to the spiders. 🕷️ 3
NOBLNG Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Black with some very fine purple webbing could work if you want to stick with the spider motif?
