Dragonhawk1066 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 My version of the Revell 1966 Pontiac GTO. The car from the movie Knight and Day was my inspiration for this one. Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold was thinned and airbrushed on. Createx 4053 High Gloss Clear was wet-sanded, polished, and waxed. Folkart Glam Gold was used for the interior with embossing powder for the carpet. I added spark plug wires, heater hoses, valve stems, and door locks for extra detail. I used Bare Metal Foil for the trim, and a combination of BMF and Molotow Chrome for the interior trim. I did some dry-brushing on the frame to show off some of the molded in details and give it a bit of a driven look. This was an excellent kit to build and I really enjoyed the build process on this one.Β 25 1
PappyD340 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Another fantastic build from your bench there Craig, very well done!!
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted March 22 Posted March 22 A Plus everywhere. So realistic. I was 15 when they hit my neighborhood. Your GOAT looks like one on our street back in the day.
Belugawrx Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Man that is one gorgeous ride, and you've done a great job on it ! So many questions...do you polish your BMF?Β the trunk trim is perfect ..also the front driving lights, is that a clear orange thinned..? Thanks for the tip on the Createx 4053 I'll try it ,..it looks awesome and it's acrylic ..yes? Anyway ...absolutely beautiful build CraigΒ (2thumsup) Β
Shark Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Excellent! How do you get the shift pattern on the shifter ball?
AMT68 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 That is as good as it gets and that gold used on the interior looks perfect for that model year. I agree with you on the kit and I'll be getting started on one of these soon.Β
espo Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Beautiful paint finish and color. The chrome body trim is all cleanly done. Like the engine and undercarriage detailing.Β
karbuildr Posted March 23 Posted March 23 I'm seriously diggin' your Goat. Beautiful paint, outstanding details all around. One of Revell's best kits for sure, and a really good movie too.

lordairgtar Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Very nice work on this. Is the interior paint the same as the body?
Dragonhawk1066 Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 21 hours ago, Shark said: Excellent! How do you get the shift pattern on the shifter ball? Thanks! It's a decal on the kit decal sheet. Just use some decal setting solution to help it conform to the round shape. 23 hours ago, Belugawrx said: Man that is one gorgeous ride, and you've done a great job on it ! With the Createx Clear, I put the BMF on after the polishing stage so it only gets rubbed by the q-tip as I'm burnishing it down. For the driving lights I used Tamiya clear orange straight from the bottle and applied it to the inside of the clear part before using Mod Podge to glue it on. Yes, the Createx paints and clears are water-based acrylics. There's a bit of a learning curve to them to get them adjusted to your own airbrush and set-up, but they're great when you get used to them. 1
STU111 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 The whole car looks awesome, but the pics looking through the drivers and passengers window at the dashboard shows the level of work dedicated to this one. Top notch. ππ»
happy grumpy Posted March 24 Posted March 24 They should replace the model on the box for yours. Flawless all around.
