Pierre Rivard Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Adding insulated mats. Made a paper pattern and replicated on medical fabric tape. Tape was painted gray, then dry brushed aluminium, then added PE fasteners. 5

MarkJ Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Pierre, this is the best use of the medical tape I have seen for the insulation mats. I will steal this from you, best I can, on my upcoming build. The rest of the interior shout's realism from any angle and the dash and gauges look perfect too.

Bugatti Fan Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Nice model taking shape! I have also struggled with using braid for seatbelts. Leaded foil from wine bottles or aluminium kitchen foil is for me anyway, found to be better for making seat belts. Far easier to fit PE buckles onto and stays put when it is positioned.

I think those belts would look fine on my Chaparral, what brand are they? The material also.

I started with Gofer lever type belts but ended up using only the 4 elements latching together (end of each strap). The shoulder adjusters were excessively fragile so I went to spares for these. The Gofer straps are also too wide for my taste (about 3mm) so I went with narrower straps from the spares. 1

I miss racing on the salt, but I hope to go back one day, my personal goal is 250 mph. my only critiques would be the floors would be bare and the stock seat would not have been allowed, SCTA has been the most strict tech Ive ever gone through with good reason

I have extremely limited knowledge and obviously making mistakes here. I'm dating this build to a 1995-2000 run and (wrongly) assumed rules were not as strict then. If you are shooting for 250, does that mean you already have your red hat?

Pierre Rivard Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 I have a question? I finished the bumpers with rust effects. I'm not sure it is good enough, and perhaps too much of the rust theme here. I'm considering stripping them and going for a black finish. Might make the car look a bit more sinister. So what do you guys think, keep the rusty chrome or go with a black finish? 1

If you've ever driven at speed on packed snow, you'll understand this the car floats and you drive with your gas pedal, not necessarily the steering wheel Edited April 26 by chris chabre 2
