Hello again new build on the bench, haven't built anything ford in awhile,so dug this out of the pile a couple weeks ago.IMG_7303.JPG.25c0c3e1d5e2749bcfe0d9b47f200e5c.JPG

Color is Scalefinishes Calypso Coral with a couple coats of Splash Paints clear, decided to do most of my BMF on the body and paint the marker lights first then clearcoat over top.IMG_7324.JPG.0199c0d74aff7550db12fdd417e32205.JPG

Decided i wanted to go with a look of a car that's been driven spring to fall over the years, so i painted the chassis Tamiya Flat Brown and various Vallejo colors.

IMG_7304.JPG.e489105bdf692c5d4fc45dc8b42cbba3.JPG

Used some Fireball tires decals to represent replaced tires, due to some "Accidental acceleration Incidents' ,over the years😬 i also added wheel weights and valve stems but the camera is not picking them up.IMG_7305.JPG.39b1a464375db5bb2a02c2b870460413.JPG

Engine is painted for some reason the camera makes it look all shiny but it's not,i used heater hose for the spark plug boots i had to stretch them a little to fit over the molded ones on the valve covers. IMG_7318.JPG.7965ec24e7951e8c07a271dc9cf2a264.JPG

I tried a new technique for doing the woodgrain,i used Testors Sand paint as the base, followed by Brown Tamiya Panel wash, then Tamiya Clear Yellow, the speedometer deals are from an old Last detail sheet.I also added some P/E keys as usual IMG_7321.JPG.55d925e95717d476ee5c5e2178ea2e6a.JPG

I heat stained the exhaust and added a light wash of Tamiya Black panel wash on the engine for a little dirty lookIMG_7322.JPG.01f57cdd1399b51c02208d7f25fb5cd1.JPGIMG_7323.JPG.923b615638f2ea8aa6822e28d3ccb82a.JPG

Looking good so far

Like the choice of tire letters not seen to often.

I'm not sure if Fireball still has them but that's a name i had never seen before.

Sweet! Love the color. How did you like working with the ScaleFinishes paint?

I've been buying his paint for a couple years and it lays down really nicely everytime i've used it.

Looks great! Just an FYI: Ford toploaders had a cast iron case with an aluminum bellhousing and (generally) an aluminum tailshaft housing.

I like the "day 2" (day 1.5?) tires 🙂

IIRC, Road Hugger is one of those "private label" brands. I think they are made by Toyo for outlets like Discount tire. The Radial G/T was discontinued a while back.

Okay i have a small update the interior is done i added embossing powder for carpeting and added seatbelts.IMG_7327.JPG.7ba92ee3bda7ff3f246c8f1b7e1d47d9.JPGIMG_E7326.JPG.cf23525e7911faab7f663512627e4e36.JPG

I noticed that the mustang has part of the seatbelt notched to the headliner area so thats what i did as well. Now final assembly can begin.IMG_7328.JPG.65a36fc1f270d6b0d475686ece320dd8.JPG

the shoulder harness mounted to the roof like that was on a 69 Mustang, but not a 70.

Pretty much every picture i could see of the interior of a 70'429 it's what i saw.🤷‍♂️

Nice build! Like your wood grain allot!

Thanks!,it's alot easier than trying to use decals on the dash/console/steering wheel.i think it's how i'll do all my woodgrain now.🙂

Okay final assembly has begun, the front grille may need more panel wash as it seems a little to light still, for the black areas on the front fascia i used decals from my stash cut to size for a cleaner look and i used red and blue detailer for the grille emblem.IMG_7330.JPG.378d4f37f416f442f0c923d383f6d594.JPG

The body to chassis fit was perfect, but sits a tiny bit low in the back.IMG_7331.JPG.a33d1a5ec954e1582e3d48ff4a1abf4e.JPG

The decal on the fan shroud took lots of decal solution to sit flat.IMG_7332.JPG.79c5ae0bf105e3858fac252b19337583.JPG

The instructions call for adding the rear panel after the body/chassis are put together, but i glued the rear panel in first then added the rear bumper and taillight in 1st,then put the chassis/body together.I used Tamiya Black  panel wash for the area around the taillights and gas cap.IMG_7333.JPG.750111ba3a83f903d573fc9c2f201dac.JPG

Thats all for now,Happy Easter everyone!!

Hmm, I guess I'm mistaken. I was going by my personal experience. I had a 70 Mustang Grande and it didn't have the roof mounted seat belts. I now have a pile of junk project car that used to be a 70 Mach 1 that doesn't have them either. But it also doesn't have a headliner or much else. So I stand corrected.
