I wonder how much demand there really is for the Astro One?

I'm not sure that there really is that big a market for the kit.

For those who don't know what the Astro One looks like....

Good question, maybe it would it would do well maybe not. If they would release it in it's original form, and not half*as it with extra decals like they have been doing. Myself I would get a couple, but that's me..

Memories indeed Robert...built the long nose Mustang when I wuz a kid, got it from that drug store on Cherry Hill east of Telegraph near Lindberg Elementary. Here's a pic of the one I built a few years ago, I always liked that kit. Looks like they put glass in it this time. Always thought it wuz odd that there wuz no windshield in the original  issues...

Glad to see this one back, built it when I was a kid. I'll pick up a couple if they are done right.

If they brought the Scorpion back, then they should consider the return of the Astro I.

They would probably have clone a new body for it. Provided the rest of the tool still exists. Which is a long shot.

I know some of us are excited for it, either due to nostalgia, subject matter or just never had one. But I fear it would be a shelf warmer, just like the AMTRONIC. Weird and goofy, but definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

I am thinking no.  I consider myself to be an ‘old guy’ (or almost…heh heh), and I wasn’t even aware of its existence.  Now that I see a picture of it, I’m thinking “meh” because I have no connection to it, or no nostalgia as such.

While I would be happy for those who wanted one, I couldn’t help but wonder which clone project that might appeal to many more builders wouldn’t get budget because of this.

That said, Round 2 decides what projects to take on, not me.  I certainly can’t complain as they have brought out so much that has literally blown my mind over the past few years!  Just my 2 cents…

Did anybody get a good shot of all the New Kits Round2 had on display, in raw plastic? I saw the 3 new ones, but I'd like to see the others. Probably just the new stuff from last time, but it's always nice to see if I missed anything.

There was also a Jack's Drugstore (building still stands, bricks and mortar unchanged) at Silvery Lane and Ford Road that had kits back in the toy corner.  I think we crossed the international dateline of Telegraph to ride over there on a few occasions.

I bought High Performance Cars magazine at Jason's on the way home from Dearborn High and before that, kits at Jack's, and Kresge's at Westborn Mall.  The ACE hardware also had a good selection as did Harb's on Monroe.  By the way, the dental and doctor's office attached to Jack's was torn down last year and the former drug store and party store is for sale.

I didn’t get pics of the stuff that was already announced, but from memory, they brought samples / builts of the following:

‘64 Barracuda (3D)

’60 Chevy Wagon (3D)

Hellcat Charger (mostly styrene)

‘66 Shelby Mustang (styrene)

’81 Camaro (styrene)

‘72 Duster (styrene and printed parts)

‘72 Chevelle (styrene)

AMT ‘76? Nova

The only new ones were the Scorpion, Longnose Mustang, and the S-10. I think they were all in styrene.

'81 Camaro!?!?

Cool!

I don't remember seeing test shots of that kit, but they may have been posted and I forgot about them.

Thanks for the list!

NOOOOOICE. Looks like the Night Prowler wires have been restored; need a set of those for sure.

Next up, let's hope Round 2 goes full Night Prowler, Thunder Z, and Super Z with future releases!

Nice. I'll be getting that 99 Xtreme. I have one that I bought new in 99!! The first kit was nice but was the concept car built on a 97 S10 If I remember right. I hope the correct other things like the mirrors, interior and even the rear bumper. I did buy a few of the 94 S10 SS kits. Still have not built one though!

A suggestion to Round2, Hire Tim Boyd, Dave Darby or any number of people with some model kit knowledge to give the presenter notes about the kits they are describing. I think it is great getting new younger people into the hobby but give them some support.

This Round2 video is tragic. So much great stuff on the table being described so poorly.

I don't think this is an official Round2 Video.

I almost couldn't finish the video, his accent/speech is so garbled as to be gibberish to my ear. I had to mute the sound so I could see it to the end. I'm glad he shared, but maybe one the the "Older Guys" needed to shoot one like this, so we could hear a better history of the kits.

Let’s hope they do a stock Z28 if they can find/tool up the correct hood.  I know the Super Z was the annual for 1980 and that included stock and custom parts.  However, that was the first year for the “air induction” style hood.

The Night Prowler was based on the ‘78-‘79 annual which had different fender vents and front grill insert.  I don't see them doing that version unless they backdate the fender vents (highly unlikely) and find the ‘78-‘79 grill insert.

The Thunder Z came with custom parts that covered the fender vents and the ‘78-‘79 style hood scoop.  So, that one could be reissued again if they can find the specific Thunder Z custom parts for it.

I didn't get any photos of what was laid out on their table, but one not mentioned here was the show rod Roamin Chariot. I asked when was that going to be coming out? The answer was "who knows with what's going on right now, your guess is as good as ours" I believe that was directed to all on the table.
