Bainford Posted April 28 Posted April 28 I agree with the others; It certainly looks great in photos. Nice work. I'm looking forward to starting mine. 1

Then the mistakes start piling up and your realize it's gonna be another learning experience. Just have to stop making the same mistakes. I do like this darkened red for interiors as it doesn't scream 'look at me' and detract from the rest of the vehicle IMO. I go through the same thing. These days, I've pretty much adopted the attitude to just go with it, enjoy the hobby, try to shrug my shoulders at the mistakes. 1
Belugawrx Posted April 28 Posted April 28 We are our own worst critics...I think it came out GREAT! Love the interior shot. 1
cifenet Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Awesome work, I appreciate your description on paint choices also! The finished work is just top notch regardless the issues you mentioned. And lastly, great photography! 1
AMT68 Posted April 29 Posted April 29 The build looks excellent from here and the level of the kits detail is quite impressive. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 That looks outstanding to me! If you had trouble with the Tamiya version, I'm really worried about the old AMT version I picked up at a swap meet .... 1
papajohn97 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Great job on one if not THE absolute best 1/24-1/25 auto scale model kits out there. Love the dark silver over red. Your pics makes me want to build another one of these. 1
Ken Car-Fanatic Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I like it! The photos make it look really nice. Sadly, I know all too well that there is no such thing a perfect build & even all the models that I've built over the decades, no matter how good I thought I had gotten, there's always things that go wrong & yes, we often are our own worst critics & always see & know where the mistakes are. But you have the correct attitude to just deal with them & learn & have just fun doing it. I don't focus on mistakes, just minimize them & focus on & appreciate the things that went right. I would have no problem displaying this on my shelf. The detailing & colors & finishes looks very nice. Great looking Benz SL ! 1
Phildaupho Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Fabulous 300 SL. Photos look like they could have come from a Mercedes brochure !! 1
catpack68 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Looks great to me! I was thinking about painting my Tamiya 300SL the same color. I really like the interior color too. 1

Everything when super well. You may have had issues, but the end results are astounding. Very good job. I appreciate that Mario. I know you know photography, I purposely left out angles that reveal the major flaws. 8^)

I couldn’t tell you where I went wrong with this kit as there are many excellent builds out there. There’s also a full length skid plate that covers all the detailed frame work on the chassis. No way mine was gonna fit… probably a blessing in the end.

Ulf Posted May 14 Posted May 14 It really looks fantastic. We have to remember that repainting has always been around, on summer vacation when I was 14(1980) we went after the fairground to a car book store that was only open Saturday morning and Wednesday evening. There and then a friend of the shop owner came with his blue gull wing, the paint was improved in several places, including around the windshield wipers but he really drove it. 1

Just don’t know where I went wrong. :^( Good luck with your kit. Looking forward to seeing the results.
