DoctorLarry Posted May 13 Posted May 13 This is probably my most ambitious project yet. Baldwin Motion reportedly only modified two Buicks during their time. One was a 69 Skylark GS and the other a 70 GS. I started with a resin 69 Skylark. I made my own DeLuxe interior and used a 68 Chevelle as a donor. The rest is scratch made. Jay's Resin Hurst wheels and tires. Testor's blue metallic paint (a little dark) and white. Model railroad pinstripe decals. Photo etch GS emblems. I think it turned out great. Comments welcome. 22
exnyman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Wow! That looks amazing! I’ve always been a fan of the 68-69 Skylarks and you’ve really done this one justice
Watertown Posted May 13 Posted May 13 A beautiful model presented with a history lesson. Nice work on both!
mcs1056 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 How did you manage the cross-hatch pattern in the vinyl top, which shows up well in the second pic? It looks just as I think I remember them being 1:1.
espo Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Looks much better than "great". Looking back and forth between the pictures of the real car and your model the finish on the wheels is the only thing that you might notice. The body color and finish along with the vinyl roof and white accent paint look to be done the same.
satterwhite78 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Now I realize what happens when things get quiet and nobody seems to know what you are up to or doing in your spare time. Just saying what everyone is thinking! Lol! A-1 my man!

lordairgtar Posted May 13 Posted May 13 The 68/69 models are my favorite. It had such a lithe design that made it look lighter than it was. Much better than the 70s, I think. My Grandfather had a 69 Skylark Custom hardtop and I had the 69 Special Deluxe coupe (vent windows and frames around the glass.
iwantmodels Posted May 13 Posted May 13 This is gorgeous. I hope someone from Revell will see this post and go forward with a 68/69 Buick GS.
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Very nice. I just ordered one, but it's been over a week and it hasn't even shipped yet.

Perry's Resin did a 68 at one point. I have a 69 that I'm going to convert to a 68 and I'll also do the 68 interior. This is the goal:
redscampi Posted May 14 Posted May 14 (edited) You've done a beautiful job with amazing attention to detail! I've never been a fan of the Skylarks when compared to the Chevelle, Cutlass and Tempest, but I'd drive this proudly! By the way, who's resin body is that? Edited May 14 by redscampi
Zippi Posted May 14 Posted May 14 That's a Beauty right there Larry. Lots of Great detail work and blue is my favorite color so I'm really diggin it. Nicely done.
Calb56 Posted Wednesday at 05:46 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:46 PM I love 68/69 Skylarks. A lot. Used to own a 68 decades ago and a marriage back. That is a beautiful engine compartment. The entire build is amazing.
