The weird thing is that I am not really opposed to ads. I am opposed to the garbage ads that are too large, interfering with the display of the forum. If they were able to sell ad space on the forum to Round2, Revell, Testors, etc. I would be more than happy to click on them. Not interested in footwear, stupid T-shirts or any of the other garbage that floats up here.

limited extra money is not a excuse i only get around 900 a month and most of it goes to paying my utilites each month i am lucky when i can get the extra  and when it is spring property tax season i end up only have maybe 200 left over to use for my hobby supplies or other items  for two month since those property taxes can be split into two month payments and when it comes to the fall ones it is broken into 3 monthly payments and i have around 300 left over to use on hobby supplies or other items so i don't get the full amount and i also get my payment from my payee in cash and then have to get a ride to go to a store since i do not have a car nor a driver's licence since i could not afford car insurrance anyways let alone the type of car i want  i also do not have any state id cause i do not need one as i do not smoke or drink alcohol so no need to pay for that little plastic card  or a passport since i don't fly and can't afford plane tickets or hotel accomadations so no point is paying for one either

I know Texas charges 16 bux for a state ID. In Wisconsin they are available at no cost. I love it here.

I am getting some near porn ads on my phone when I use it on this forum........leave me alone!!

Having ALWAYS had a "unique" sense of humor, sometimes have a habit of clicking on the t-shirt ads, in order to enlarge them (in order to read them), BUT, that doesn't mean that I want the "near porn" ads (that DAVE brought up) popping up in the middle of looking at someone's newest model car/truck creation.  I have "found out the hard way" that you have to be careful of "what" you search for (wording can be EVERYTHING)........  For instance, had a brand new set of headers that I was going to sell as the car had a brand new set with it when it showed up, and they weren't needed as "shelf decor".   Had grabbed the reducers out for another project, local warehouse was out, catalogs back at the shop across town, so, crank up the laptop to get the part number for the reducers.......  HOOKER HEADERS, so, try Hooker Headers. Com., and end up with someone that had obviously hussled the name out from under the company in order to sell it back to them for "big bucks", so next try, oh yea, really!!!!),  HOOKER.com. ..........   "Stuff" started popping-up hundreds of times faster than I could attempt to block/delete it!!!!!  Finally just "crashed" it off woth the power button..... Call #2 son (our family "I.T." guy), tell him I need his help, NOW!!!!  After he finds out what I've done (and rolls on the floor laughing til tears), took him several minutes to clean up the mess.....  All this to say:  BE CAREFUL how you phrase what you are searching for using search engines!!!!!  😉

DJ

ps: don't mind ads, just keep em "PG" rated 😊

We have ad settings that are supposed to keep the naughty ads out. The problem is that the ad companies are better and quicker at figuring out how to sneak them in than the software company is at keeping them out. All we can do is follow the rules and check the right boxes to try and keep them out.

Google is the consummate frenemy. They generate the revenue to keep the server running. They can't always defeat the bad actors that game the system. This has actually gotten better, thanks to AI. It's a bit like a puppy that wants to please you, but sometimes tinkles on the floor.

I'm going to suggest something unconventional. Start clicking on the ads that are acceptable, or even better, interesting. That will train the algorithm to your preferences, and should eventually solve the problem.

You can also report inappropriate ads. There's usually a little white rectangle in an upper corner that will bring down a menu with several options.

Both of these will alleviate the problem.

I've noticed that the ads I see are related to my browsing history. For instance, when I'm doing research for a project, the ads will often be for Jeg's, or something similar. I was doing research for BBC engine blocks, and the ads were for crate motors. Currently, it's ads for homes in a new subdivision, and Etsy. Nothing salacious at this time...dangit!😅

Yes, but FB is entirely its own unique system largely run by computer programming which automatically picks out what its programmers deemed to be 'against community policy,' whatever that was supposed to mean. This MCM forum is staffed by real-life moderators, and the rules are quite clear on what is worthy of reporting. Political content is not permitted here, no matter what end of the spectrum it comes from, so reporting it from either members or whatever stunts political advertisers might try to pull won't get anyone here a lifetime ban. FB, by contrast, is arbitrary on that kind of enforcement beyond description.

Your safe on here, we'll only ban you for being a ford guy (joking, lol) but honestly banning is our last resort on here. It takes a lot for folk to get banned from here as we will moderate your posts before any ban or maybe limit access. Spamming or obvious advertising (not honest reviews from members but the heavy plant ads hidden inside a post on trucks for example) for companies will get you banned with no warnings though. We really dont want to ban folk if we can avoid it
