There is no cure or detox for the model collecting fever.  It might be more expensive than drugs but it doesn't ruin your health, and models (unbuilt and built) can be sold 2nd hand. ;)

I have stopped buying since kits hit the $30.00 threshold. I have plenty to build with the $18.00 price tag still attached to build and 40% off from Hobby Lobby.

Buying kits and building them are two different hobbies. Most of us are much better at the former.

I am neither confirming or denying this as a very true statement.

I will admit, I have a large styrene footprint. I buy a kit here and there if they are discounted or something I see at a show.

At the NNL East, I wound up with 11 stock car donor kits, plus 4 3D printed stock cars.

I jumped into buying 3D printed parts, etc a few years back. With summer I have slowed that down.

Like others say, there are worse habits out there.

It is incurable. You can be made comfortable, but you will live with it all your days. We all have it so feel free to keep commiserating.

i will go to ikea and have a look  thanks everyone for sharing  really kool collections there

have a look at any restart/homestart type stores too. I help out in one on a wed morning and they get a lot of display cabinets in like new condition that sell for pennies on the pound. the middle of lidl is good too, i got one of my cabinets there. also if you are in a housing assosiation flat they might have a store of left behind furniture though most goes to restart type shops. and shop bankruptcy sales can get cheap display units, often with lighting, if you go in on the last day and make a silly offer. jewellery shops are great for those cabinets

Well, it's hard to stop buying when the manufacturers keep putting out stuff I can't live without.  My dirty little trick  (please don't tell my wife) is to put two or sometimes three of the same kits in one box. The lids don't always fully close,  but it looks like I only have one '66 Chevy pickup until the box is opened. Mind you, I'm only doing this to conserve space, not hiding anything...

It's surprising how much a standard model box will hold when most of the sprue is removed!

After 65 years I haven't found an acceptable cure for my addiction. My counselor tells me it's called Addictive Compulsive Behavior. (Just kidding...). Thank God there are no vodka bottles hidden in one of those heavy boxes!
