1974 Chevy Laguna S3

This 1974 Laguna S3 is from a file by Andrey Bezrodny and was printed by Andy Lesiak . It has a very nice body and parts with no print lines to deal with and only minor Z-shift on the lower doors and rear quarter panel .  I decided to build this one as printed just to see how well everything went together and it did just like it should .

A couple of changes I made were to add a working hood hinge made of brass rod and tubing , and I modified the front suspension to have poseable steering . It's painted with Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and Duplicolor Inferno Red . The lower body stripes are a combination of paint and my own decals . I also printed decals for the emblems , side marker lights , and license plate .

I've already purchased a couple more 3D printed kits from Andy and highly recommend him . This Laguna S3 is a great kit and I enjoyed building it , I hope you like it !

I actually bought one of these new back in '74 and it was a pretty nice car for its time . Here's some old photos of my Laguna . Dig those swivel buckets !

The engine has some highly detailed parts and looks great but it has the '87 and up center bolt valve covers so I swapped in a set of earlier ones from my parts box . I also found a stock air cleaner housing that isn't correct for this car but looks better than the aftermarket style one that came in the kit .

The chassis like the engine isn't technically correct but looks good when finished .

The interior is also very nicely detailed . I didn't do much other than painting all of the parts Inferno Red and using DullCote , Gloss , and Semi-Gloss clears to add some contrast .

Thanks Nick !  I used .010" clear sheet from Plastruct but I might use some .005" sheet from Evergreen next time .

That is very a beautiful car; I remember one episode of Columbo and wherever the place was he was investigating, they had a fleet of company cars that looked exactly like this. Coupla pics

Absolutely beautiful.  You nailed this one.  I wonder if the Revell 77 Monte Carlo would be a good substitute (if you can find one) kit donor for the interior?

Outstanding!  Great to see that it is finally becoming easier to build factory stock third generation Chevelles now with 3D printing.  Quite impressed with the accuracy, since you said you did no major changes.

Also appreciate your attention to detail on this, including all the specific Laguna Type S-3 details like the color-matched bumper rub strips and the body-colored rally wheels.  Icing on the cake is the 400 engine call-outs.

I think this color combo was by far the most common for the '74s.  Man, those interiors were RED!

Not sure why you would need the '77 Monte interior, the one in the pictures looks good to me.  Seat patterns look correct for a '74 Laguna.

Monte Carlos had different seat patterns and upper door panels, so the Revell MC interior wouldn't be technically correct.

Excellent work on an accurate looking model. Thanks for posting the vintage photos because as a fan of these cars it's nice to see them factory original. My first car was a '74 Malibu Classic coupe in the mid '80's and they were comfortable cars that handled well. I just received a 3D '74 Malibu today and creating the glass looks to be the biggest challenge. Glad to have these 3D prints though.
