Mike 1017 Posted October 20 Posted October 20 This just came out of my repair shop after I knocked it off my shelf. I had to rebuild pretty much all of it. Only the interior survived and the Modelhause tires I stripped the body down and repainted with my original 15-year-old Testors Transparent Red and Gold. I updated the ignition system. Thanks for looking I got some interior touch up to do and find a new door handle Mike 20

Monty Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Congrats on turning a disastrous situation into a great restoration. Kudos as well for achieving such a gorgeous finish. I tried that paint combo a number of times when I was younger but the transparent red always seemed to lean toward a darker pink for some reason. Note to self: check your paint supplies and try this again. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Brilliant repair/restoration job. Many would have relegated it to the spares box after that accident.
espo Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Beautiful paint color and finish. Great looking Flathead and well detailed.
ybsluos Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Mike, that paint!!! Stunning build. Want me to look for a door handle? I may have one. -Mark
Phildaupho Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Great looking traditional Deuce Hi-Boy Roadster. Excellent combination of components and colours.

Mike 1017 Posted Monday at 05:10 PM Author Posted Monday at 05:10 PM Thanks, Guys for the comments they do mean a lot to me. Mike

Did you use white primer? At the time (1982), no. I sprayed the clear red over gold as that was supposed to give the "warmest" tone. Very disappointed with the results and didn't try that combo again. I can thank Testors and their BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH-tastic rattle can nozzles for pushing me into airbrushing. In my world, their rattle cans are only purchased if the paint can't be obtained any other way, and then only as "storage units" to be decanted when needed.

I got so so tired of the can spitting out of clumps and ruining another good paint job. The Hot Water Trick did not solve the problem. I use only Rattle Can Primer
