Beans Posted November 5 Posted November 5 It looks better than the last iteration of charger. I just can't stand that front hood dip into the weird front spoiler thing, that I can only guess, is there to make it look less like an ultima or accord.

People can say what they want about the engines, but you have to admit this a bad ass looking sedan. I misspelled Charger OOPS

And to go a step further, for the majority of Porsche 911 buyers, why does the GT3 exist when the standard Carrera is already more car than they will ever use? And to go even further, why does the Carrera exist when the Boxster will be more car than most Porsche buyers will ever use? Because maybe Porsche’s leadership feels the need to atone for the sins of all the distinctly non Porsche sedans and SUV’s they’ve disgraced such a hallowed name with? To me the GT3RS is blessed assurance that the ones running the marque haven’t completely betrayed it. Yet. If I were well healed, I’d own one of each of what you mentioned simply because I’d want to gain the ability to fully experience driving them all at the limit. The Cayenne is the only reason Porsche still exists today. No SUVs or sedans means no 911, no Boxster, no 918, and no further development of sports cars. And I'm the same as you. Even though none of it makes much sense, I want a GT3 and a couple of GT3 RS. One with the Manthey Racing package. 1

I don't hate the Cayenne and Macan, and I don't think it dilutes the Porsche DNA. I look them as vehicles for someone who wants a relatively (or extremely) fast, good handling vehicle but has need for an SUV. Kind of like the Porsche DNA got transferred to another mother..... LOL. What I do dislike is the "coupe" versions of BMW, MBz, Audi, and Porsche SUVs. Kind of takes away much of the SUV-ness.

I just wish they branded them differently. 2 hours ago, iamsuperdan said: And I'm the same as you. Even though none of it makes much sense, I want a GT3 and a couple of GT3 RS. When your corporate philosophy favors growth rather than staying as a niche builder of great sports cars, that's what you get. As a Porsche owner/enthusiast for many decades, I thought it was funny the other day when one of the guys I work with mentioned the Porsche in the shop that I hadn't noticed was there. "How can this be?" says I to myself. So I go in search of it and low and behold, a newish Cayenne with deer remnants stuck in its teeth. Meh. Porsche? Looks like just another bloated hippo-inspired mommy-wagon to me. EDIT: With $8000 headlights...each! Yeah, I'm sure it'll blow the doors off my old 911 in a straight line. And you can have it. Radretireddad Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I can’t fully fault car manufacturers for their current offerings. Since they no doubt spend millions of dollars gathering focus group generated marketing research data before any new model or even feature debuts, the products they offer are intentionally engineered, styled, and packaged to have the broadest possible appeal which means sales success depends on pulling off pleasing everyone and offending no one. Their offerings are the results of what they’ve predetermined the majority of the car buying public is willing to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for rather than what a more purist minority like us thinks is more desirable. It’s the general public majority that have been dulled into viewing cars as just another expensive appliance and the manufacturers clearly understand they must accommodate them if they wish to remain in business.

I disagree. Car marketing has convinced the buying public that they need every imaginable gadget and comfort and "safety" enhancement, gigantic pickups that never get used to haul anything, and that you should only buy black, white, and silver because nothing else has any resale value. A lot of the money is in options, and the stuff manufacturers want to sell are the vehicles they make the most profit on. Period. They don't care what the "public" wants, and they've done their dambdest to brainwash consumers to want what the manufacturers want them to want. Marketing works, and the widely touted "focus groups" only give us stuff like the Edsel...because consumers in general have no clue. 1
