Eero Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 This is a model made to represent 1:1 car that I had once. I built this model out of AMT kit. I took that roof from some old 1961 Thunderbird kit. Tires came from Replicas&Miniatures and those photoetched parts from Model Car Garage.
Junkman Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) You guys up there are in your own league when it comes to modelling. Edited January 29, 2010 by Junkman
David G. Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Absolutely beautiful. I particularly like the engine bay detail, very well done!
nails3825 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 WOW! I'm speechless ~ that is a bad (cuss word) build... the detail is simply amazing! It's inspirational to see a model looking so good, makes me want to keep building so I can be (almost) as good I'm working on a '66 bird at the moment, just about finished. The antenna you have there gives this one a sense of realism, a nice touch to an already perfect model. Was thinking about putting one on mine but I'm a little nervous on screwing it up... got any tips?
Foxer Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 WoW! Absolutely a beautiful build. Clean as a razor and the engine bay is as good as it gets.
Stang67 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Excellent job! Did you buy it(your 1:1 car) in Finland or Import it from the States or Canada? Cheers.
Ronster Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 well, my jaw just hit the floor. Amazing and wonderful build. Thanks for sharing!
sjordan2 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Absolutely killer. So many things are just right, things that tend to be overlooked, such as the weatherstripping around the bumpers. I bet the interior is just as outstanding.
Eero Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Thank you all! Maybe I dare to show you some other builds as well... Some answers: Yes, those bumber bolts are pin heads. I bought this 1:1 car from Finland, but It was imported by some other guy at 90's from States. (And it was hard to sell it, at least now I have this model...) I don't any particular tip for tha antenna, I used very thin steel wire and some pieces of polystyrene. I don't have any good shot from the interior, but at this picture you can see something. There you also have a bit better view of engine. This is the real thing. Tried to represent it as well as possible.
Eshaver Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 THAT .............Sir is an outstanding .................RIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!Ed Shaver
Sixties Sam Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 That is an incredible model! Great detailing, and it looks so real. It could have been in the "Real or Model" section! Sam
RodneyBad Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Excellent work. Could easily pass as pics of the 1:1 Not sure if it is or isn't either.. FanFrickintastic..

Peter Lombardo Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Wow, great replica of the real car. You sure got all of the details right. The patina under the hood is perfect...and the wheels are just right. Very impressive. Obviously you knew every square inch of the real car and translated it into the scale model.
crazyjim Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Fantastic Eero. The detail is tremendous. I really like the valve stem on the tires. How did you do that?
Dr. Cranky Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Pure eye candy. Beautiful job!!! Congrats.
Alyn Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 It's nice to see how well the design of these old birds stand up to the test of time. No customization necessary on this one. It looks great right from the factory. Your building skills do an excellent job of putting this car on display. Great attention to detail and especially to realism. How did you come up with the yellow paint to match your 1:1 car?
bsoder Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Well let me just add my DAAAAANG that looks good!!!..what a great job of replicating your 1:1 my ex wife had a '68, nice but plagued by electrical gremlins
rustybill1960 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Great looking build man! Really diggin' the way you did the windows and the engine compartment is awesome! thank you for sharing!
