bluemoose Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Here's a box stock version of the Galaxie '48 Chevy I built around the time the kit first came out. Just now got around to shooting some outdoor photos. The paint is Sassy Grass Green from Model Car World.
59 Impala Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) WOW, now that is one fine lookin 48 Chevy Tom. Great job on it. Love the color. I have the car and the sedan delivery to build one of these days. I hope that mine looks half as good as your's does. Dan P.S. What did you do to get it to set down? I like the way it sets. Jeff Sauber Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 For this type of car I ain't that big on the color, but all else is excellent....Nice work.
Raul_Perez Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 WOW!!! That's really GREEN! The finish looks GREAT!! Later,
Joker Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Always click on da BlueMoose! glad the headlite lenses are on straight. (pet peeve)LOL Outstanding build ... James
MonoPed Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I really like this one... No I want one of these kits...lol!
Foxer Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I LIKE this green on it! And, the application is fantastic.. what a shine!
bluemoose Posted May 8, 2010 Author Posted May 8, 2010 P.S. What did you do to get it to set down? I like the way it sets. Thnaks Dan, I can't remember this part of the build, but looking at the suspension, I think I just mounted the spindles upside down. The rear is probably just stock ride height.
Harry P. Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Not a fan of that color on this car (or on any car!)... but you sure did a heck of a nice job with the paint!
Bernard Kron Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 (edited) Another immaculate OOB build. You really have this down. And you always select the right kits for your style. I really must get myself this kit. It demands to be built out-of-the-box because it's so beautifully engineered and executed. You really did it justice! Thanx (as always) for sharing your talent with us. And I actually like the green - it's appropriate for the era and style of the car. Edited May 10, 2010 by gbk1
DanielG Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Nice glassy looking paint job! Too bad it is GREEN! (I have been told that I don't see green the way it is supposed to be, especialy by my wife, who loves the colour!)
jimnohio Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Wowzer...that's GREEN! Very cool build there. I love the color!
W-409 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Wow, that's awesome! What a paintjob! Engine looks very good. Was that kit good or bad? I have to buy it someday, this may be only model kit from '48 Chevy...?
nails3825 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Your photo skills are just as good as your modeling skills! And they are both far better than any of my skills... but I do make a good pot of coffee. So much to learn Thanks for posting such an inspiration, it's an incredible job that makes you say "WOW"
David G. Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Holy Moly! That definitely makes a statement. Excellent paintwork.
bluemoose Posted May 9, 2010 Author Posted May 9, 2010 Was that kit good or bad? Thanks W-409! I think it's an excellent kit. The engineering is different than any kit I've built before or since, which I found refreshing. Only disappointment was the lack of three dimensional side trim moldings.
MikeMc Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Well done job on a great kit btw Tom......someone swiped your gas cap!!!
Scalper Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Very cool build. Great paint job and color. You dont see these cars to often. great work.
crowe-t Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Tom, I just found this thread! It's a beautiful build and the paint is FLAWLESS!!!
