DRG Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Wow, that's great, another American Company owned by Japan.
george 53 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Oh Well, I guess there goes all the new stuff that RC2 was SUPPOSED to do. But that's seems to be the new AMERICAN wave, sell out to ANY country who is willing to pay the price. Even Budwieser is owned by the Germans. Glad I don't drink. Just gonnawait an see what happens with RC2
Harry P. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Even Budwieser is owned by the Germans. Well, seeing as how Eberhard Anheuser and Adolphus Busch were both GERMAN, that seems to make sense, doesn't it???

Just gonnawait an see what happens with RC2 RC2 had no plans to release anything new, that is why they leased all of the plastic model tooling to Round 2 the company who is currently producing AMT, MPC, and Polar lights kits. That contract is still in place and will be for quite a while. And Budweiser is owned by Belgians. Edited March 12, 2011 by Darin Bastedo

Just like the one about them stop making truck kits because someone didn't like the wheels.
MikeMc Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Well, seeing as how Eberhard Anheuser and Adolphus Busch were both GERMAN, that seems to make sense, doesn't it??? No....they have been dead how long???
ra7c7er Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Wow RC2 as a company were doing fairly well. It's amazing to see how companies are starting to sell themselves before they fall. My question is does this affect R2? I thought they were different companies.

Harry P. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 And Budweiser is owned by Belgians. Two German guys founded A-B in St. Louis. In 1987 Belgium's two largest breweries merged to form Interbrew. In 1999, Brazil's two largest breweries merged to form AmBev. In 2004, Interbrew and AmBev merged to form InBev. In 2008, InBev bought A-B. What a long, strange trip it's been...

Rob Hall Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 and yet budweiser STILL has the typical american taste of watered down pee rather then the bold flavor of german beer or the full boquet of belgium beers go figure LoL.. I'm no fan of Budweiser, I prefer American craft beers and various European beers...

Tommy Kortman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 LoL.. I'm no fan of Budweiser, I prefer American craft beers and various European beers... Not really a big beer fan myself at all. Prefer BACARDI!!!!!
Rob Hall Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 ?? Do the people at RC2 drink Bud or something?? Nah..just a thread diversion because someone was mistaken.
diymirage Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 LoL.. I'm no fan of Budweiser, I prefer American craft beers and various European beers... growing up on bavaria, grolsch, heineken, carlsberg, hofbrau and a wide array of european beers i just cant get past the lack of flavor in american beers
Foxer Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 (edited) OK then, I'm going off too ... I never liked beer before going into the Army and getting stationed in Germany for two years. NOW I know what real beer tastes like and have been drinking it ever since... when I can find it. All the micro-brewers now make it much easier, but I've settled on Sam Adams. It's in the taste of German beers and it's local to Massachusetts! Edited March 12, 2011 by Foxer
diymirage Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 where in germany were you stationed mike ? when i got kicked out of college i signed up for the armed forces, i would get 3 stripes, 4 men under me, one tank and stationed in seedorf germany untill they figured out i was too tall, lefthanded and nearly blind, all of which diqualified me for the position
Jon Cole Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 THIS JUST IN: TOMY Co to resell recently acquired toymaker RC2 to Anheuser Busch. NOW this thread makes sense.
gasman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 This may not be a bad thing. Tomy own Tomica, who makes excellent 1/64 diecast cars. Tomica does mostly Japenese cars but they have done some American muscle cars too.
Greg Pugh Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I'm laughing out loud right now. You never know what you're going to get with this place. How on earth did this thread become about beer?
Darin Bastedo Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I'm laughing out loud right now. You never know what you're going to get with this place. How on earth did this thread become about beer? I think it's because Tomy's buyout of RC2 has no immediate effect on Round 2's Model kit production, it never really had anything to do with model cars.
Joe Handley Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 not sure why some view this as a bad thing Considering the disaster RC2 made of things, I have no problems with it at all
Lunajammer Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 THIS JUST IN: TOMY Co to resell recently acquired toymaker RC2 to Anheuser Busch. NOW this thread makes sense. Now to the headlines... 1) IPMS Announces New Category: Amberbock’s Stock 2) Tomy to Buy RC2... Modelers: “Oh My Guinness!†4) AMT, MPC & MGD... OMG! 3) NASCAR kits to feature beer sponsors: Heine-can-you-believe it? 5) Tomy to Hobbyists: We Will MakeThem Better, Stronger, Foster’s. 6) They Killed RC2. Arrogant Bastard! (Look it up) 7) Production Moves to Japan: “Amstel In Shock!â€
