Chuck Most Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) This stared about a year ago, with a Tamiya '66 Beetle kit. I worked on it on and off (mostly off) for about six months, then let it sit for another six months. Earlier this week, while chopping the '66 body, I did an epic mess up, and long story short, had to find a new body. I robbed one from the Polar Lights Herbie the Love Bug kit, and modified it for the look I was after, and to fit the Tamiya chassis and interior. Edited March 17, 2011 by Count Chuckula

Dr. Cranky Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Lots of details to drool over. Love the firewall and the red lenses. Perfect, Chuck. Keep 'em coming!
Foxer Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 The overall look is fantastic, but it's the all detail pulling me in!
Ryan S. Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 That's a cool bug. I think I'm starting to like these better fenderless. Well done.

I robbed one from the Polar Lights Herbie the Love Bug kit, and modified it for the look I was after, and to fit the Tamiya chassis and interior. I've always hated building those VW's and have always wanted to build a Beetle like this without the fenders. Now I know what it would have looked like. I like it man.

Sixties Sam Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Just great! Looks like Herbie's evil twin! I like the engine detail and the metal firewall treatment. Really nice work! Sam
DiscoSpud Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Whoa, check out evil Herbie! What an awesome build mate! You know some just cannot get a Volksrod right, but you've done a brilliant job, this is very inspiring!
Bastardo Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I love moded Vee-dubs and this one is no exception - she looks great!
Naydrus Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Wow... that is just truely insane.... not much of a VW fan, but overall, it looks badass. Ill be posting pics of some of my completed projects on here soon....
