LDO Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 I took this model to a contest in San Antonio last month: I left it in the back seat of my car and forgot about it for about 10 days. I figured it was no big deal...it's February, after all. This is what I found when I took it out. . . . . . . . . . . . . This really surprised me. I once stored models for a 18 months in a rental storage room. They had no damage. Just weird.
MrObsessive Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Ooohh Nooooo!! I would be very upset if something like that happened to one of my models! Temps inside a car can get quite toasty even in the winter time. With all the glass and such that a car has, the interiors just radiate heat..........especially if it's sunny out. Your storage room while a bit toasty too...........doesn't get the direct sunlight.
DaveInTheHat Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Darn, thats a shame. Maybe you could think of some way to use it in a diorama or something.
GTmike400 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Ouch! That really bites. Though, that looks really cool.
Randy Kern Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Egads! Lesson learned, huh? Actually Lee, that does look a little cool. Maybe an LSD experience diorama?
ismaelg Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 AAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! That reminds me of old vinyl records with the same fate.... hmmm, that could be the right torture for my AMT Camaro Concept.....
Zoom Zoom Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Just dunk it in warm water and it'll look like new  Sorry to see that, but I'm in the "it does look pretty cool" camp too. A new "form" of automotive art?
Smart-Resins Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 YEOW!!!Man that really bites. That would really tick me off.Dont care for that kind of car, but your workmanship was superb!!Now all I can say is find a Goofy figure and place him behind the wheel and make a quick diorama of Goofys day out or something.Man am I sorry!!
VW Dave Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Ooohh Nooooo!! Temps inside a car can get quite toasty even in the winter time. You could probably get away with it during one of our winters, but not a Texas 'winter.'
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 "One pill makes you larger..and...one pill makes you small..." Maybe it could win the Timothy Leary Memorial Award for "Best Fantastic Plastic"...
Guest zebm1 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Hey Lee, tell tha local rubes that yu have found an unknown Salvador Dali artwork.....bet they'll offer yu enuff money to buy a new house. zeb
Jared Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Lee. looks like you have to do A LOT of body work! jk. no thats a shame man. i hate to see anyones models, finished or not. melted. even if the build was the crappiest build. sorry it happened Lee. i guess just save the good parts and hang the rest on the wall in a shadow frame!
lordairgtar Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Oh my, I kinda like the Salvador Dali look to it. Takes me bake to the seventies.
Mike Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I'm sorry to see your build got ruined. I can't imagine the words that'd come out of my mouth if something like that happened to me.
62rebel Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 that bites. reminds me of the melted VHS tapes video stores used to keep on display to keep you mindful of rented property and in-car heat. IMHO; put it in a display case and keep it at the clubhouse. there but for the grace of God go I....
Rick Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I don't know what to say, except I'm sorry to see that! It would make for a nice public service announcement......... Don't let this happen to you......... Sorry about the model, it looked great! Rick
ramonesblues Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 "takes you bake? a freudian slip if I ever heard one. Heh heh!!
LDO Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007  ALRIGHT Y'ALL THIS IS ONLY FUNNY FOR SO LONG!!!!! Just kidding. I do have a sense of humor. Jared- There are no good parts left. I want to say the tires are OK, but the whitewall inserts are distorted, so that's a no-go.
Matt T. Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Nothing you can do. I'd display it as-is. It is literally a one-off piece of art now. I like it. Just roll with it. Don't mess with Texas [heat].
Guest zebm1 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I'm sorry to see your build got ruined. I can't imagine the words that'd come out of my mouth if something like that happened to me. Pilot Error! >>Kind of like tha last words tha pilot says right before he augers into terra firma that lets yu know it waz pilot error......"AW CH%T!! zeb
Reliable Resin Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I recall being at a car show & a guy had a Model in a Case on the Air Cleaner at the end of the day , BLOB of Plastic However yours looks Kinda Cool ........."Salvador Dali"
scummy Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007  Wow lee thats a shame , I suppose it's only good now for displaying at show's to remind us that these thing's are only plastic and they DON'T like heat ! Cheer's.
