bbowser Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I usually build OOB with no extra detailing beyond paint/foil. This is my first (finished) attempt at something other than box stock. I used a '60 Chevy P/U, grafted the back half of a F350 dually onto the frame, planted a 348 W motor from a '62 Belair because I didn't think the 235-6 would be up to the job, and then added the camper from the Model King reissue of the Racer's Wedge/Camper. It was a lot of fun and has given me some confidence to try a couple other projects that have been lurking in the dark recesses. I especially enjoyed building a kitchen sink/stove/fridge as a change of pace! Thanks for looking!
Tony T Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Wow, cool! I like it a lot!! Nice build...very unique!
randx0 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 very nice work. I like the two tone paint and the fact that you finished it!

Dr. Cranky Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I like it, that would be a great model for a diorama, a trailer park party/car show! Sweet.
Sixties Sam Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I love it! You did a great job building this. The color scheme seems just right. Great interior details, too! Very nice model! Sam
bbowser Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 very cool, one thing i would like to know though it were did you get those wheels? They are the wheels that came with the Monogram F-350 dually pickup.
Janne Herajärvi Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Very cool! Kind of funny that you did now your first not OOB build and same time i am finishing perhaps my first OOB build
Clutch Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Excellent looking camper, Congrats on your first kitbash!
ra7c7er Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 That's awesome. I have been trying to figure out what truck to put my camper on. Now I know I just need to make custom up myown. Doubt it will look as good as yours though. Great job.
Tumbler75 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Perfect blending of parts to bring us one stunningly remarkable build! I love this all the way around as it almost looks like a camper I had many many many years ago. Mine was Red and Cream. Two Thumbs up! Awesome! I love it!
moparfarmer Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 A racer here in Winnipeg had a light blue one like yours in the mid 60s with what I can remember the same style of camper. Had a big block Chevy in it, and they used to pull a sprint car to Grand Forks N.D. every friday night . He later sold it to a friend of mine, Craig Beischer, who used it to go to the races every week for years to come. Its still sitting in his back yard. He has since died and his son owns it now. He's started to fix it up, and will travel to Motocross races with it like his dad did. He says it will bring back memories and its a bit nostalgic. Yours looks real sweet. You've done a very good job. Be proud and don't be afraid to try something different..........
Chuck Most Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Beyond cool! Makes me want to finally wrap up that Dodge motorhome I've had on the back burner.
Zhu Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Sub zero, possibly even cooler. I can't see a single thing I don't like. I've got ideas clicking over in my mind now, as if I don't have enough unfinished projects already
Foxer Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I like how you aligned the two tone between the truck and camper.
disabled modeler Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I like everything about it George.... Very clean and COOL build!!!!! SWEET!
bbowser Posted May 24, 2011 Author Posted May 24, 2011 Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the encouragement. I had a few moments, like lining up the 2 tone on the cab & camper.
