Pete J. Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Ok, I just finished watching the second episode of Adam Carola's The Car Show. IMHO it has made some improvement from the first episode and I am enjoying it more. It is not the original Top Gear, but it is a heck of a lot closer to that show than Tanner Foust and companies attempt at an American version. So what do you think?
SuperStockAndy Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I saw the commercial for it, but I missed it. Looked like a good show though.
ra7c7er Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 It's 100 times better than Top Gear America but it's still no Top Gear U.K. but it's only been two episodes. Got to give Adam Carola a full season or two.
Nitro Neil Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Much, much better than Top Gear America. I have to agree that Top Gear UK is better, but on the other hand, I bet we won't have to sit through reviews of Citroens or Puegeots on The Car Show.
2002p51 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 All of the ads I saw over the weekend said they were going to have segments on a rock star driving a Lambo and something about a Ferrari. Two subjects I have absolutely than no interest in. Pass.
AMT Pacemakers Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I watched the first 10 mins. or so, THEN CHANGED THE CHANNEL!!!! CCSS
sjordan2 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I've never even heard of it... I haven't, either, but I checked and it's on SPEED at 9 pm Eastern, Monday and Saturday.
mrmike Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I find Top Gear USA very weak compared with Top Gear UK. They even use TG UK's challenges and it makes me wonder if they can come up with something original. I have yet to check out The Car Show.
VW Dave Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I'd classify The Car Show as The Man Show with cars peppered on it; it's not awful, but it's also not something I plan to sit and watch.
gasman Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I havent warmed up to the Car Show yet, but I haven't watched the second episode, I really like Top Gear USA, nowhere near as good as the UK show but its getting better. The Alaska episode was great. and the reason why there using a lot of the same challenges is because the show is produced by a lot of the same people who do the UK show. Top Gear USA will get better,
kitbash1 Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I've watched both and turned the channel after 10 minutes on both. Give me top gear UK anytime.
highway Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Jeremy Clarkson needs to take a hammer to both shows!! I haven't even watched "The Car Show", because I personally CANNOT STAND Adam Carola! Top Gear US is not as good as the UK version, there is just something about a British accent that makes those three so funny!
Lownslow Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 the car show might have a chance if they fire adam corolla
Joe Handley Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I'd classify The Car Show as The Man Show with cars peppered on it; it's not awful, but it's also not something I plan to sit and watch. I kinda had the same thoughts, I kina preferred the USTG and UKTG more so too. About the only thing I liked about the first show is that the Petty Cash Racing Cherokee (the "Petty Blue" station wagon that passed their 300ZX in the LeMon's race) had a couple way too quick cameo's and were apparently;y the ones that actually shot up the ZX afterwards too
Chuck Most Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Haven't checked it out yet, I'm still kind of lukewarm on Adam Corrola. On the other hand, I'm worried about the fate of that Yellow '75 Maverick on tonight's US Top Gear...
Guest Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I figured if the show is as bad as their commercial advertising it is,there's no use watching it. I can semi tolerate Top Gear, but only if there's nothing else to watch.....
Joe Handley Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Haven't checked it out yet, I'm still kind of lukewarm on Adam Corrola. On the other hand, I'm worried about the fate of that Yellow '75 Maverick on tonight's US Top Gear... Unfortunately, the Maverick started on fire by the end of the show, but I still think it was the best of the three cars, I was laughing out loud on more than one occasion while watching it though
Chuck Most Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 All it went through, and on top of that I think he got the year wrong, it had the earlier 'blade' bumpers. Didn't notice until it was up on the 4x4 chassis.
Green Duster Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 All of those shows are just lacking in a focus. They want to get the main stream guy interested in cars. Most guys want to watch a "car" show to get some information out of it. That is the "car" shows on Spike channel. They provide info, resources, and some intertainment. I think the CAR show and TOP GEAR are done by non car people or rich SOB's to showcase just the high end, high price ######. Sorry this just my opinion. Brian.
