Thanks Tom, It is in great shape, and drives nice. It was just to nice to pass up. My wife and I were talking about getting a convertible for a while, and when we saw this we had to get it.

Nice WRX! I was thinking of getting an Impreza for my wife's next car.

I drive a rusty '95 Honda Civic EX Coupe. Bought it brand new. It's got around 400,000 miles on it now with no sign of giving up yet. Two years ago I bought a new 2013 Civic Si Coupe (pretty fun car to drive), but it sits in the barn. I want to see how long the old Civic will last before I break out the new one. Besides, I have a feeling the new one in NOT going to be a fun car on snow & ice.

That VW has one tight engine compartment.

They all do now a days! I was getting frustrated fitting all the plumbing I wanted to include under the hood of my Volare project in 1/25 scale. The next day I was working under the hood of my Dodge Caravan and had one of those laugh out loud moments.. of course I was having issues with the model, when I couldn't even get my hands into places under the hood of a 1:1 !

VW looks nice, I wouldn't mind having one of those New Beetle convertibles.

Kinda happy I bought the extended warranty on my 200, just gonna let the dealer mechanics deal with that! With the 3.6l V-6, it's not nearly as roomy as the 3.8l minivans, but at least better than that Beetle!

After several flips, I think I've finally found a keeper. I bought this 1977 c10 chevy for $3500 to be my high school rig/ racecar hauler. Aside form the wheels/tires, its mostly stock with a newer GM crate 350 and a paintjob (original color was blue). It's a solid rig and should work good for me.

That's one sweet chevy!!!!!! I've got an '85, nowhere as nice as yours!! :-)

cobraman, indeed it is,LOL! My son (he's nearly 13) MIGHT be able to get his hands in there :P A bit more room in the FJ's compartment, but still snugger than the older vehicles I've owned,at least once you need to get at the lower side of things (it has a nice oil filter setup though)...

Tom,you're right, seems like engine compartments get tighter each generation of cars/trucks,LOL! If you get one,get the turbo, easy (inexpensive ;) ) to mod,and a blast to drive, especially with no one suspecting a Bug. When I get around to changing it's look (I didn't say "painting it" because I may plastidip the thing a few different color combos to see what I like),I'll probably yank that "TURBO" emblem off the back for a tiny-sleeper

I have gotten stuck in to German cars as all the cars I have so far owned have been either VW or Mercedes.

My first car is this 1969 1300 beetle, still got it but it is now a project.

Bilde20.jpg

Then a bought a 1962 Mercedes 190Diesel, very rusty but running. I still got it (sort of) but it is now in molecules. The body was sandblasted and primed and that has now been sitting like that for many years. I also drove two 1993 VW Passat, the first one I owned for ten months but was hit by another driver and then bought another wich I owned for only 7 months and sold it because I was tired of it breaking down all the time. In 2007 I bought a 1974 Mercedes 240Diesel.

DSC00189.jpg

It looked really nice when I bought it but the rust quikly came and in 2011 I scrapped this and got another:

A matt black 1975 220D wich got the 240D engine from the beige 74 aswell as the red interior from it.

In 2008 I rescued this one from the scrappers:

DSC02946.jpgDSC00576.jpg

A 1965 190 with petrol engine. Stil got this, planning on getting it back on the road but things take time

In 2009 I bought the car that is currently our daily driver, this 1985 W123 230TE:

DSC00394.jpg

And in 2012 I bought another W123, this time a 1985 300TDT with only 456 000 km on the clock :D

P1100054.jpg

This one is still in need of some rust repairs but I'm planning on finishing the work soon (just don't ask me to give a date ;) )

And then to the worst car I have ever owned, this 1989/90 VW Golf 1,8CL Sport that I bought in 2011.

DSC01538.jpg

Owned it for 14 months an spent a fortune on it in parts. Replaced the engine, clutch, grearbox, drivshafts with CV joints, wheelbearings, brakes, shockabsorbers, springs, clutchwire, speedometerwire, radiator, startermotor, timingbelt, dynamo, ECU, fuelpump, Lambda sond and tires aswell as a huge amount of other small jobs. Not all on the same time but after a while I discovered that I could fix something and we never drove it for more than 7 days before something else broke so I had to get more parts and spend more time working on it. As an example, the gearbox/differntial was leaking oil trough the flange where the driveshafts are attached. This led to the oil washing out the grease in the inner CV join leeding to it failing (exploding) and rendering the car totally imobile. I had a spare gearbox but also had to replace the driveshafts as the flange at the inner CV joint had a different boltpattern.

Another thing that was very common was that I had to readjust the gearchange mechanism once every two weeks.

Luckily I got the Revell mkII Golf GTI kit and that one has an 1,8litre 8 valve engine just like my Golf had (mine the Monopoint injection so I have to change the incjetion system) and since it is also a 3 door hatcback just like mine I plan to build a model of it. But not just a straight model, I want to build a diorama of.

I want to build a diorama of it where it is sitting in my garage, with the front lifted up and on axlestands, the engine on the floor and i figure of me working on it. As an extra addond I will put a mp3 player in the base with sounds of me working with tools and swearing over this POS car

I buy , fix and resell cars so my daily driver changes on a regular basis.I just sold my quad cab Dakota, and before it was a 1998 Ford SVT, I also had a 1995 Ford Contour with a 2.5 V6 and 5 spd,,,those cars were a blast to drive and super easy to resell . I would love to have another SVT Contour

Currently driving a 2005 Grand Caravan I bought to fix and flip.

As for my daily driver next week or next month, who knows

2011 Nissan Cube Krom Edition.

Raced a Porsche 356 on the way home and killed it.

My car, well its fun as hell, sat nav, hands free yada yada, back up cam, 9 speaker Fosgate, 6 color rotating interior floor lights, 35MPG on avg.

But I get a lot of Cube rage on the road from others. Apparently ppl hate being behind an asymmetrical car going the speed limit.

LOL,I hear you ("people hate being behind..."),I don't habitually speed like I did when I was younger (I'm only 41 now though,LOL)--there needs be a reason, even if that reason is "I like my exhaust note"--we have this one hill I have to drive up anytime I go anywhere in Bristol where the speed limit drops from 35mph to 30mph at the base, and 25mph just after the top a mile or so later,I always say (knowing they can't hear me,the vehicle behind me  ) "If you don't like the speed now, you're going to hate it when we get to the top" . I've noticed that it's rare for someone to pull right out in front of/mess with the FJ Cruiser, happens more in the Beetle (seriously...do you think a Beetle is going to bounce off your car like in 1 of th eold Herbie movies when he bounced off Thorndyke's Rolls? ),but at least it gets more respect on the road than my dad does in his Prius C  Btw,I dig those Cubes,my friend

Update on the tires/wheels....I sold off a couple of RC rock crawling rigs, and having the budget to,I ordered up a set of 18" wheels yesterday. Will probably be a month or so before the Wife lets me buy tires,LOL (since I just installed new tires on the stock wheels a month or so ago)--unless I sell another RC or 2--but seeing them on sale I couldn't resist. They'll be plastidipped in (dipyourcar/com's) Cobalt Blue.

("factory photo" of wheels, they're coming in the correct 5x100 bolt pattern)

Back when I lived in NJ there was a road that was 40mph and you went up a hill and right at the crest of the hill it turned slightly and immediately became a 25mph zone. And guess who was hiding right behind that sign?

Pretty often as I was going 40mph there'd be some clown tail gating me. I could see him become enraged when Iet my foot off the gas and decelerated up the hill. And once we went around the curve he'd see why. Well, one time the guy behind me had enough near the top of the hill and decided to pass me right at that curve on the double yellow. And guess who was sitting there? Yea, he got pulled over immediately!

The first thing I did when my VA claim finalized was trade in my 04 Saturn Ion and get a 2015 Dodge Journey. I've been tooling around town and love it, but it's real maiden voyage will be a trip to Phoenix to the Desert Scale Classic on the 11th of April.

I've got the windows tinted and some mild graphics. Next it will get color matching wheels. YeeHaa !!!!

The last picture is from a Close Encounter with an Alien vessel at the local grocery store.

It's a 2.4 that behaves like a bigger motor. I haven't tried to smoke the tires, but I have ZERO problem accelerating into traffic. I'm still waiting to feel a tranny shift.

Posted

If it's the same 6 speed auto that my 200 has, may not be too tough to do. That trans has a 4.127:1 first gear and with the 3.6l in and cheapo factory tires on my 200, not lighting them up is easier said than done at times!

Awwwwww, no fair !! I was considering a 200, but the Journey was too good of a bargain to pass up. It had 500 miles on it when the first owner's financing fell through.

I knew a girl who bought a new car, showed it off to all her friends over the weekend, then got the call on Monday to bring it back. That really hurt!
