Harry P. Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Just curious, but why do you strip the chrome parts and then go and "rechrome" them with Alclad when they were already plated to begin with? Seems like a lot of extra work just to get back to where you already were...

Harry......great question...... when I would trim the chrome part from the tree..... in my eye`s .sometimes you see the chrome is missing from the part you trimmed......and it just does not work for me when you touch it up with chrome paint or foil ......I like the part to look uniform ......and sometimes the chrome from the kit doesn`t look right to me.....that`s just my thought.......and to tell you the truth it`s really not that much extra work.....thank`s
george 53 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 John, are these resin models??? I thought they were Monograms 1/24th GSX kit. Are the 1/25th? Do you have an addy or website to be able to get one?

Flatearthman Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Sweet Sweet Build and i agree with you on the chrome 100% no matter how careful you are there is always a tiny tiny bit left with no chrome, just knowing it's there makes me crazy even if you cant see it Hats off to you for going the extra mile

Hey Harry the kit chrome always looks like plastic , Alclad is so much closer to the real thing (IMO) I always strip it too. Good Job on this one John!
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hard to tell this is a model in the pictures. Another great build. Bobthehobbyguy
LAone Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 other than the fact that it doesn't have a key in the ignition and has not started up, i think its a fantastic looking build..
Nitrozilla Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 She's a beaut John. I especially like all of the wire mesh work and the interior details. I usually strip chrome too. I do it primarily on larger parts that have a mold line or mismatch. I HATE mold lines !!!!!!! Can't wait to see what rolls up to the line for your next build.
Danno Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Fantastic finish, John! Greg Wann is "The Master Caster" - he does some great bodies and miscellaneous parts (such as a bench seat for the Revell Cutlass/442 kits and the GSX marker lights previously shown here) in addition to the Cosma Ray kit and various bodies, including the flipnose GSX John started with here. You can contact Greg via email: plumber-boy1@cox.net (Give him a little time; his father passed away a couple of days ago.) Tell him I sent you. I get nothing from it, but it gives him an idea where you've come up with his email and/or where you've seen his products.
jeffs396 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Another GREAT build John! Someone should really show you how to paint though That black looks SMOOTHER than glass!
oldscool Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Yep, another one of your fantastic builds. gus
Mooneyzs Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 John Great job on this. It turned out Gorgeous. Paint work is beautiful as always. This kit turned out very nice. Its clean and looks great. I always enjoy your builds.
W-409 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 FANTASTIC Buick, as always John! That color fits perfectly, these '70 GSX Buicks are looking really nice on 1:1 scale. Your color is bit different, than the original one, that's why I like it. Also that paintjob is truly amazing, VERY shiny and smooth as glass. Detailing is just amazing, and that air cleaner looks just like 1:1 sized part. Whole car is amazing, I can't even complaine about those wheels, it's so nice that those wheels don't make it look bad. There isn't enough words, so I could tell, how nice it really is, maybe the best model, I've seen. Now I'm going to pick up my jaw pieces from the floor...
Models by Bear Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Unbelievable ! I need to get some lesson from you on how to paint .
crazyjim Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Bang! Another great build, John - and SHINY to boot. :)
aksarben Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Killer! That paint looks dripping wet. Very inspirational and an unbelievably fast project. Steve
