Foxer Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I have Ordered one of the Hudsons and when It gets here and My Wife Asks What Do you need with another Model, I'm Going To Tell Her it's Virgil's Fault! I think most of our wives know it's all Virgil's fault ... mine always says "I'll just send Virgil the bill!"
Len Carsner Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) I'm lovin' all of the projects here in "The Hornets Nest", I'd like to play along too! I didn't get mine done in time to show it with Bills during our build up set, so with the good Doctors permission: The inspiration: My version: Kinda plain, nothing fancy, just the way I like them! wgflatliner Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 once i get done with my 67 charger i'll join in on this. the charger will be done by the end of the week.
Chuck Most Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Nothing wrong with a stock Hornet, if you ask me. Lovely build, Len!
Roger U Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Len, Nice, clean looking build. The colors look very realistic for cars of that era.
charlie8575 Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I agree. I think a stock Hudson is a great-looking car. Nice job, Len. Charlie Larkin
Chuck Most Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Added a half-hearted GM subframe swap to bring down the nose. Dredged up some Chevy Rally wheels from the parts box, and plucked some skirts from a '49 Ford.
Chuck Most Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Don't you just hate it.... You're moving along with a project, making great progress. Then later on, you have the saw in one hand. And the body in the other. You sneeze, and BANG... You accidentally chop off the roof?
Tom Setzer Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 A Hudson Hornet Convertable, I like it, Great Idea! CHEERS! Tom
Dr. Cranky Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 Len, beautiful build. Chuck, it's coming along. Keep it going.Oh, I love The Hornet's Nest, Len. Very cool..
Dr. Cranky Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 I like it, Chuck, I think it's a very good move!
Chuck Most Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 you just put fenderskirts on a Hudson? well that's just about as bad as a skort Yeah, that's one of the reasons I did it!
lowriderphil Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) who could forget the pink monster from "Porky's" Edited October 5, 2011 by lowriderphil
Chuck Most Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Wanted a wacky paint scheme for mine, so I thought why not go with an actual hornet pattern scheme? I painted the body a light green to represent the 'original' color, then went over that with black primer and yellow paint to create the paint job.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Oh my, Chuck, that's perfect. What a great idea! Of course. Black and yellow stripes, a hornet's work clothes. Nice, nice, very nice. You have to now keep it going. This one is already a winner in my book! WOW!
Wagoneer81 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 And once again I say, "I BLAME YOU, DR. CRANKY!!!" For financial reasons, I was going to wait to get the Hornet but... I picked one up at my LHS, yesterday! Looking hard at this thread and at other references, I'm still not sure how to build it... I do know that I'll end up building more than one... Thanks again, Doc! This is the cure for what ails me!
Harry P. Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Chuck... your paint weathering skills are right up there in Cranky territory. Nicely done!
Tom Kren Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Just got mine last nite and wow what a kit I cant wait to start!!!
Chillyb1 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Wanted a wacky paint scheme for mine, so I thought why not go with an actual hornet pattern scheme? I painted the body a light green to represent the 'original' color, then went over that with black primer and yellow paint to create the paint job. Yup, that's cool, Daddy-O! So obvious, yet so unexpected. Keep up the Hornet madness, you guys.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 But of course, where are you going to put the stinger? It's got to have a stinger!
Tony T Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Very cool, Chuck!! Convertible and a cool paint scheme! Love it!
Wayne Buck Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) But of course, where are you going to put the stinger? It's got to have a stinger! Funny! I was thinking the same thing, Cranky! Maybe a long, thin and RUSTY tailpipe coming straight outta the middle with "barbs" on it? BTW, AWESOME work so far, everyone! I want to get one of these now after seeing all of the GREAT eye candy, BUT, I just have waaaay too many projects on the bench ATM.. Edit: Drew this up in paint real quick... maybe something kinda like this for the stinger? (Not much of an artist, as you can see.. LOL,) Tailpipe side view: Edited October 6, 2011 by Wayne Buck
Foxer Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 One of those outrageous Japanese pipes that stick up the center....
Dr. Cranky Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Wayne, I don't know about Chuck, but I love the idea!
