This is always the hardest part of a build for me, Where to put the finished model. The build thread is in the Drag section of this site but I usually put the completed builds in this section as not everyone looks in that section. Post wh*$%*g? yea I guess.

Anyway, The surfers were a bit of an anomaly back in the 60's they didn't have a huge backing nor were they the "Big Name" what they were had a lot to do with the success of their car. College geeks, if you will. Physic's students and an unquenchable thirst to do what couldn't be done. They ran their fueler on 100% nitro, absolutely unheard back then and even today. Plus they didn't break parts or blow motors in the process. While the other teams thrashed between rounds in the pits the surfers skate boarded around and goofed off. Hence, the Surfers name.

There are a a few odds and ends to wrap up on this build but for now its as done as it can be...

I want to Thank Tom Jobe, One of the members of the Surfers team for the help in this build, Without him I could have never completed the car. His insight and photos became invaluable in this build.

Feel free to ask any question, I'll do my best to answer them..

As always, Thanks for looking..

Oh yeah!!! Lovely, just lovely, the tasty details and the straight-up, no b.s. purposefulness of this iconic car - it's all there... I really enjoyed following the w.i.p. and the results delivered on everything it promised. A tour-de-force of scratch building. Congrats on doing justice to this important dragster. I loves me a down and out cackler. You can always tell when a builder has a passion for the subject. Great work Shane. I like the wooden front wing. I'm putting a wood push bar on my Dragula.

Absolutely outstanding.

We need to get you together with a Mr. Steve Perry and his Freght Train. Dual Gas vs. 100% Ntiro. Circa 1966. Beautiful, scratchbuilt 1/25th scale masterpieces. I can smell the burning rubber now! TIM

Thanks guys for the comments, I just hope I did the car a little justice...

These guys were way ahead of their time and some of the stuff they were doing then is still working today...

After closely following your WIP, I thought I knew what to expect when this legendary rail was done but you blew my doors off Shane. This is my favorite FED ever. Love it!!!

B):D:P:wub::);)^_^ This thing is AMAZING!!! Those front wheels look very realistic and tires are looking great too! I like the Fire Power Hemi too, detailing is stunning. And what I can see from the driver's "cabin", that "steering wheel" looks very good. Aftermarket, photoetch...? I'm maybe going to hide my Front Engine Dragster forever after seeing this one.

Absolutely stunning Shane. You've outdone yourself on this one. Not that any of your other builds don't stand up to this one but when you are replicating an actual car and get it this close I think that carries m ore weight.

I think you accomplished that in spades...GREAT build of the fueler of my favorite dragster team ever.

Certainly one of your best, and one of the best old school diggers that I've seen. Excellent detail. The front wheels are beautiful. The variation of metal surfaces really looks nice.

I'd be mighty proud to be the builder ;)
