Looking at 1:1 sales figures and popularity at showes and on the street, wouldn't it be nice to have a new kit of the notchback/coupe '64-'66 and '67-'68 Mustangs?

I would love to see some re-issues of the renwal revival series. Anyone else remember these? I wonder if the molds survived.

Revell/Monogram has so many great kits that could be re-issued .. I'd love to know the reason why they don't ..

Exactly. All we get is the same old stuff. Snooze.

I keep hearing about the 'tricks up their sleeves' and upcoming releases that 'will blow our minds' yet the first quarter is a huge letdown. Where is all this shock and awe?

Looking at the existing Revell/Monogram library, what hasn't been reissued in the last 10 years or so that would be a viable reissue?

For example, I assume some subjects such as vast selection of '80s-90s NASCAR kits are off the table because of past market saturation and lack of demand.

Poison Pinto, Rat Vega, The entire line of those awful ( but very cool ) Revell pick ups. Pretty much the same can be said for the line up of their '70's style Custom Vans. Chapparal Coupe, etc etc there is literally a ton of stuff. The NASCAR stuff is dicey because of copyright issues though ..

That Bugatti would be nice..they do pop up on eBay occasionally (the '78 issue is usually pretty reasonable). A bunch of older Monograms I wouldn't mind seeing include the ex-Aurora Maserati 3500GT, Bugatti, the MG TC, '70s Merc 450SL, Land Rover (though I have one of those), Porsche 924, Mazda RX-7, Chevy LUV pickup, and some of the '30s classics (though those don't seem to sell well). All kits that haven't been out since I was a kid.

For Revell, I'd like to see the Porsche 356 and 914 and some of the '80s Revell of Germany Porsches (911 Targa particularly).

A more recent kit that would be nice to see reissued is the Essex Wire race Cobra.

Being an AARP aged modeler, I would love to see the old Monogram hot rod kits back dated to their original versions, and a few could be 2-n-1 version kits. Say the '29 Ford pick up with two building options....1. Blue Beetle, 2. Boss A Bone. How about the '23 T brought back as....1. The Little T, 2. Sweet T, Etc. You get the idea. Even the older versions like the Red Chariot, Yellow Jacket, Etc. The Miss Deal funny car has been reissued several times now, but how about the other 1967 Bob Paeth creation, the Dodge Revellion? How about a reissue of the Corvair powered C-cabs that Bob did with Revell? The Moon Mixer, Patent Pending, T bone Stake, Etc. Who wouldn't want that series back? Orrrrrrr, maybe even a few of Revell's old annuals.....'62 Dodge Dart, plus many more. Yes, I love the old stuff, and yes I am excited to see so many old kits being reissued, that I'm beside myself at times. I know so many others want newer vehicles kitted, but in this day, and age, be happy to get a chance at some of the kits us older modelers had as kids. and just be thankful that the company's are still giving us plastic models to build....period!

I'd like to see a reissue of the Chevy LUV !

I recognise that there were two iterations ; the Mojave Mule by Tom Daniel , and the "street-stock" versions (one in red , and one in white) . I don't remember which one(s) were issued first ; however , I *believe* that the final issue was the High Rollers series from ca.1985 .

I'd like to see it reissued in 2 wheel drive form , with most -if not all- of the parts necessary to build it stock .

I'd also like to the other Monogram Classics reissued. There are so many cool kits out there, that I could go on for pages, but the Museum Piece Monograms would be a great start, along with some of the AMT annuals we haven't seen in a long time (like the one-and-dones, which was so many of them).

This one may sound crazy, but I want to see the Monogram 79 Indy Pace Car reissued. I had it when it was new and after a few years I gave the kit to a friend who wanted it. Since then the kit seems to either go for crazy prices or I miss out. I have two Mustangs that I was acquainted with back then that I want to do models of.

That kit and too many others.

Okay, these may not be the most needed but, I'd like to see the promo later model (83ish) Chevette kit re-released as a full detail. I would do my dad's ols 77 but, I don't ever recall seeing one of those in 1:24 or 1:25. My mom had one when I was a kid that I would like to replicate. I want to do one mini truck style. Maybe even do a full v8 drag car conversion.

I would also like another to combine with a Chevy Luv to make the "Cheluv" conversion that was mildly popular in the 80s. For those that don't know what I am talking about, it is a Chevette chopped off behind the doors with a Luv back cab wall and the Luv bed. I've seen a few and really liked them.

EDIT: I just found out that MPC made the 77 Chevette. Now I've got to be on the lookout for one.

The series of Monogram curbside sports cars. Porsche RSR and 924, Triumph TR7 and/or 8, Mercedes coupe, Ferrari 308 GTB (?) all with parts to do both versions offered. (stock and racer)

I know it has been brought up before, but the MPC Dodge Pickups from the '70s would be nice. Actually, there were some nice subjects from the '70s from MPC that would be nice to see but I doubt the tools still exist or have been modified and cannot be fixed.

I think you'd be surprised at just how much MPC tooling does exist. I've read the MPC tooling inventory as given me by RC2's AMT/Ertl people in late 2004, just as I was being laid off with the closing of Playing Mantis (they kept me on a small retainer for a couple of years afterward, in case they wanted me to help them lay out any model car kit reissue programs (I did one, but it was never followed through on).

In contrast to the AMT tooling, which was loaded out persuant to a bankruptcy settlement in the late summer of 1982, MPC's tooling and the inventory lists of that, were apparently kept quite organized in their transfer to AMT/Ertl in the late 1980's.

MPC had 77-79 Chevettes - also, keep an eye out for promos - they tend to keep their body shape better than some of the old MPC kits...and can be found cheap.

Art,

I would think they (Round 2) have an idea of what is viable and has sales potential and therefore they are scheduling production based on that.

I remember hearing that the MPC Dodge pickups were modified into the Monster Trucks in the early eighties and have been rendered somewhat useless as a stock vehicle as a result. I always hoped that Dave at Model King would resurrect them, much like the Ford Super Stones and Chevy Blazer kits.

Thanks Erik. I got a PM offering a trade for one. Just gotta locate what I need for the trade. Hopefully, I can source what I need at the swap meet in good condition.
