This one may sound crazy, but I want to see the Monogram 79 Indy Pace Car reissued.

I'm 99.99% positive it was reissued as part of the SSP in the mid '90s. Rob Hall would probably remember.

Hmmm...pretty sure the '79 Mustang IPC has never been reissued (since the tooling was modified into later Mustangs). I have the Monogram and MPC '79 IPCs in my stash.

I doubt it, think the tooling was altered, first for the SVO and then for the '83 'vert, then the Monkees mobile, then the '89, 90,91 and '92 annuals, and then a '93 Cobra...

A bunch of older Monograms I wouldn't mind seeing include...Chevy LUV pickup... All kits that haven't been out since I was a kid.

I'd like to see a reissue of the Chevy LUV !

I recognise that there were two iterations ; the Mojave Mule by Tom Daniel , and the "street-stock" versions (one in red , and one in white) . I don't remember which one(s) were issued first ; however , I *believe* that the final issue was the High Rollers series from ca.1985 .

I'd like to see it reissued in 2 wheel drive form , with most -if not all- of the parts necessary to build it stock .

Just as long as they reissue the Monogram LUV and not the Revell LUV; what an waste of plastic that one is.

I remember you mentioning wanting it to be reissued (didn't your brother own one?) on rec.models.scale usenet group in the '92-'94-ish time period, then I thought I remembered it being reissued in the SSP not long after that.

Good memory..yes, my brother has a 1:1 '79 IPC along w/ an '82 GT and an '85 GT. I eventually got minty unbuilt Monogram and MPC IPC kits, pretty sure it hasn't been reissued.

The AMT LN8000 race car hauler would be nice to see.

Ask & you shall receive! it's on the shelves now, your're much luckier with your wishes than I am, all I want is the '71 Ford Pinto from AMT it is the only sedan version released all others were "Runabouts"

I would love to see some re-issues of the renwal revival series. Anyone else remember these? I wonder if the molds survived.

renwal-570.jpg

I talked to someone from Revell about this. Apparently all tooling for the Revival series is non repairable and will never be released. I have everyone of the kits except for the Playboy. Although seen on advert sheets and boxes, I have never seen an actual Jordan Playbot in kit form. Interesting thought on the Duesenberg, it was issued in two color combos. Same tan and brown, but in reverse. One could make a dark brown Duesy with no tan if they were to own both versions...which I do.

Sad to hear about Exner Renwal tools. Color flips are actually common, but kits are scarce enough people don't realize it. Happens with glue kits and slot kits both. Duesy brown/tan flips, Mercer red/white flips, Stutz red/black flips, Bugatti blue/white flips, and Jordan blue/light blue flips are out there. I don't have nor have seen a color flip Packard or Pierce, but they may be out there. I'd own one if I'd found one. :)

Old thread resurrected, but agree. 68-69 Coronet convertibles, Promo tool 65 Coronet convertible, Tow'd, 70 and 71 Impala convertibles, 69-70 C-10, 61-63 F-100, Get Smart Sunbeam all could follow me home happily.

Agreed ! One of my biggest beefs with Revell kits of that era (closed-bonnet , prima-fascia) is that the windshield and backlight had the freakin' "runners" intruding into the upper-roofline-edge of the glass !

The Monogram LUV's were pretty decent , to the best of my (foggy) recollection B)

Not too bad but still simplistic. I have a 2WD LUV with the California step side in my stash as an old built-up waiting for restoration. :)

The Jordan Playboy styling reminds me of a mix of '67-70 Eldorado with '71-73 Cougar/Mustang roofline...and it predates both those..interesting customs.

Even though they are snap-kits, I'd like to see the Revell '78-ish Toyota 4x4, prefereably with the camper shell. Also the Monogram '83-ish Datsun-Nissan 4x4.

IIRC, AMT also had a Snap Kit Toyota 4x4 around '79-80.. never had that one. I built the Monogram one back in the day.. IIRC, Revell also had an '83-84ish Nissan pickup of that era but a 2wd model. I don't remember the Revell 70s one, checked eBay and there is a red one called 'Rumble Rider'..

I've seen the AMT kit on ebay. The prices for all of them are out of hand. I once found a lot that had two of Revell Toyota gluebombs in it (one blue, and one red), but the bidding went over $35 and I lost on it. probably would've wnet to $40, but that's all I had in paypal.

I'd really like to get the blue Toyota with the camper shell, as it's the first model I remember getting. (may not be the first, but the first one I remember) I was probably about 6 and my dad painted it for me.

With the requests for reissues we must remember that the tooling for many of these annuals would be in the last version sold, the newest year car. For instance, everyone would like a '76 or '77 Volare, but the tool is no doubt the square headlight 1980 version that we wouldn't want. Same with many of the others including big bumper Pintos etc. where the earlier versions are more desirable.

We saw that recently with the reissue of the Gremlin and big hood AMC Pacer. But the good news is that the tooling is in the hands or Round 2, who does understand that doing a bit of modification on old tools can pay off. For instance, I fully expect to see a Wayne's World low hood Pacer sooner or later. Why? Because Tom Lowe is the master of TV and movie licensing and that kit would sell big time. And the only thing that needs to be redone is the hood.

Same with the old Chevette kit. Last version was the 1980ish Bear Bait with the full width chrome grill. I'd actually want the older style car with the split grill inset into the hood. I recently laid out both versions and again, the only difference was the grill. So that one could be restored for minimal cost.

For me? I'd love to see Revell reissue the old Monogram Land Rover! We haven't seen it in a very long time and it should sell well.

I'd love to see it back too, maybe they need to add some bling bling and release it in a California Wheels wrapper.

Lets start another list of the kits the most need to be reissued. For starters, lets leave out anything by Jo Han. I'm thinking more about Revell, AMT, MPC and Monogram kits that tooling is just sitting around doing nothing and could be put back in service if it were located and cleaned up.

AMT: '64 Mercury Comet Caliente...gotta be coming soon:

MPC:

Probably should have posted this her instead, so, sorry for the double-dip:

Revell could simply straight reissue these and rake in the money:

  • 1/25 '68 Pontiac Firebird
  • 1/25 '67 Camaro
  • 1/25 '77 Monte Carlo Snap
  • 1/25 '49 Mercury Woodie Wagon
  • 1/25 '41 Willys, race/gasser version
  • 1/25 '60 Chevy Impala Hardtop
  • 1/25 '99 Chevy Pickup
  • 1/25 '57 Ford Sedan Gasser
  • 1/25 '70 Plymouth HEMI Cuda
  • 1/24 '70 Plymouth Road Runner
  • 1/24 '55 Chevy Street Machine

Some Round2 reissues:

  • 1/16 '55 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop
  • 1/16 '57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop
  • 1/16 '57 Nomad
  • 1/16 '63 Corvette
  • AMT '63 Pontiac Tempest AWB
  • MPC Open Road Camper
  • AMT '64 Mercury Comet Caliente
  • MPC '84 Toyota Supra
  • IMC Touch Tone Terror Dodge A-10 Pickup

  • AMT '63 Pontiac Tempest AWB
  • MPC Open Road slide-in Camper
  • AMT '64 Mercury Comet Caliente
  • MPC '84 Toyota Supra
  • IMC Touch Tone Terror Dodge A-10 Pickup

Since Model King promoted the Tempest, Open Road camper and the Comet, I can't understand why Round 2 hasn't brought these back in so long!

Then again, it did take them just as long to reissue the "Wild Hoss" Bronco, so maybe any of them could be just around the corner.

By the way Casey, the Open Road is not a "slide in" camper, but a full replacement for the bed.

And wasn't there rumours of the Supra coming out real soon? By you, perhaps?

Touch Tone Terror would be a nice kit to see, but Round 2 would have to take a gamble retooling the booth and the other accessories as I doubt any of it still exists. And how many of the younger generation would even know what a telephone booth is? The Dodge A100 pickup molded in white would be most welcomed, though.
