ZombieHunter26 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 The fact that you are crazy about Zombies, Rob! Oh yeah... that. LOL
Cool Hand Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 You can never go wrong with black. Thats what I reckon too, black and chrome are such a good combo. The wheels on the very first picture, do you recall where they are from? Mike the wheels on the Hilux are from the kit.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 I love those little trucks, Luke. I have one or two of those kits I would like to build one of these lifetimes!
hotrodblder Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 There are many builders out there with their unique thumb print. Can you guess who this is? Chip Foose
Dr. Cranky Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks for the right answer, Shawn. Nobody has a more distinct look that Mr. Foose right now. He can take any old car and make it look current, modern, almost what they should be putting out in Detroit.
jaymcminn Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hmm, for me it's all about color and form. I believe that paint should showcase the best features of the car and that custom work should only improve the shape of the vehicle. When I build factory stock I try to go with colors and options that stray from the expected. I try to incorporate detail, but I try never to add so much detail that the build starts to feel "cluttered". I don't view myself as a "rivet counter", but I do like my work to look like something that could actually work in the 1:1 world. Even though I build in lots of different genres, I believe that my style is pretty easily recognizable by other builders.
hotrod59f100 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hey luke what kit is that Subaru? I like am some what like Luke I usually only paint in a few colors. Red and green and gunmetal. As for kits I prefer Japanese cars and trucks that and American trucks.
Cool Hand Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I love those little trucks, Luke. I have one or two of those kits I would like to build one of these lifetimes! Totally agree with you Virgil. They are cool trucks and being that they are basic/simplified kits makes them very enjoyable to build.I have a few more in the stash too,one day il build another one. Hey luke what kit is that Subaru? Hey Shane, the Subaru was built from this Fujimi kit.

Jason, you build a heck of a nice and beautiful model, and I see many stylistic touches on your models which would make it easy for me to pick your work out of any line up, most of it having to do with a clean, and beautifully painted vehicle.
Pete J. Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) WOAH! Luke & Pete .... you guys built some NICE stuff! That Surfite in Martini race markings is brilliant! Thanks for the complement. The Surfite was build after I finished the super detailed 935 and I had a bunch of decals left over. I was really burnt out on detailing when I built it and needed some relief for my imagination. Scott Colmer Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) Hey Pete, Looks I've been a fan of yours for many years. I've studied your truck many times at the SoCal shows and in magazine coverage. Amazing piece. Also incredible that you took it apart and rebuilt it. The Surfite is also very cool. Draggon Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 For me if its not a gasser or a custom, the front end has got to be in the weeds with the mandatory tiny front tires. Sometimes I get a bit carried away though!

Amazing piece. Also incredible that you took it apart and rebuilt it. The Surfite is also very cool. Scott Scott, Thanks for a very big complement. That truck was one that I have been very proud of. I just wish I still had it. It was stolen along with a bunch of other stuff from my garage several years ago. I have been wanting to redo it for a while. Maybe in red or yellow, though black is really sharp. Next time you are headed to San Diego are, let me know. My doors are always open to another modeler. Pete
Dr. Cranky Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Glenn, even in progress your work shows your thumbprint. Very nice work. I think style develops quickly over a periods of a few builds . . . and YES, you can change your style several times along the way.
Scott Colmer Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Cool, Pete. Thanks for the invite. I'm in SoCal so if I have a finished model next time Daryl has a show, I'll try to make it down. Bummer about the truck. That would be very frustrating. Scott
Pete J. Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Scott - I look forward to getting togeather. Our IPMS car club is cohosting a contest on June 2nd. It is a lot of fun because it is held at the Gillespie field on the same day as their air show. We are on the other side of the runway, but you still get the fun of seeing all kinds of aircraft.
Jeff Johnston Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I like to build a lot of stuff but in the end I think these represent my style. I love old Fords and I like to open the panels. I don't do open doors every time but I try to at least once or twice a year.
David G. Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) I'm still not sure exactly what is meant by "Originality" as it applies here, but let me dust off an older favorite of mine that I feel fills the bill. The Reaver For those of you who've seen this one, thanks for putting up with it again. To those who haven't seen it, I hope you've enjoyed it. At any rate, thanks to all for your indulgence, David G. Dr. Cranky Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 David, that's original, all right, and knowing a few of your pieces, you have YOUR STYLE all over that sucker.
