traditional Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) These two '50s Triumph sportscars.......a '56 TR2 and a '57 TR3 are both built from vintage Gunze Sangyo plastic kits that include some photo-etch parts such as wire wheels, dash cluster, steering wheel spokes, Triumph badges, and a rather strange PE 'fold-up and bend' sheet metal chassis. The plastic bodies are simple (no opening features) but well molded and proportioned and I find these kits are quite satisfying visually. I've used custom mixed basecoat/clearcoat paint, with Humbrol, Testors, and Tamiya used for small details. I added foil to the rear fender 'spats' and also to the upper fender trim as used on a TR3. cortinanut Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Wow, great work--and wonderful to see these built up as a pair!
GeeBee Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Superb work !! I have the TR3 to build, I just hope it turns out as good as yours .... you have a very nice pair of models there !
Eshaver Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I just finished a service station diorama that either one of these superb rides would look fabulous in ! Ed Shaver
Foxer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Great to see two together here .. they look fantastic! I keep staring at the 2 TR3's I have for parts building a TR4A I owned, but I MUST be able to get a 3 out of what's left!
John Goschke Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Outstanding builds! The TR-3 with those wire wheels is especially realistic looking.
Dave B Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 TRiffic job Clifford, nice to see some one else likes the old sidescreen TR's. Love the photo etched wires on the 3, must look out for a set for my 3A I have yet to build Dave B
Harry P. Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Beautifully done! Very crisp and clean... they look fantastic!
elan Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) Nice job, now if they would only do TR4-TR8? Love old British stuff. Edited April 2, 2012 by elan
johnwitzke Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Very nice builds. I just received the TR2 that I won off ebay. Nice kit.
Draggon Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Both very nice, but I love the red one! Must be the inset grille and the steel wheels.
surfjunke Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Those both came out great. Really fine work & great finishes. Very cool cars.
