TooOld Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 (edited) This is my first post in "Under Glass" and also the first model I built since 1987 . I built it late last year while recovering from an extended hospital stay . My son said I was crazy and " Too Old " to be building models , hence my screen name . I started with the AMT '66 Nova SS and grafted the roof and tailgate from a '57 Nomad body that I had . I detailed the engine and added Pegasus wheels and tires , and a scratchbuilt exhaust . The tinted windows were to hide the non-existent interior , but I kind of like it . It's not even close to what I see posted here , but it got me back in the hobby and I'm really learning alot ! Thanks for looking . BOB. Edited March 5, 2020 by TooOld 1
Dr. Cranky Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Love it, and a totally different build. Delighted to have you back sharing your eye candy with us.
Joker Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Glad to see more longroofs in "Underglass". Great body work on the tailgate Bob. The dual exhaust looks menacing! James aka Joker
rmvw guy Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Nice job on your Novamad ll Bob! The two tone paint adds a '50s element to it. There is no age limit with this hobby. Lol. Usually great things are built in small scale first.
Grumpa Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 What an awesome idea! The body "mods" on this look right from any angle! Almost like Chevy had the idea and you stole it! Great work!
CorvairJim Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Your first build in 25 years? Man, you haven't lost it! You integrated the two designs vwer well, and the added details really make it come to life. Great job!
bbowser Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I love it! Chevy could have sold lots of these back in the day. Nice job and welcome back. Sometimes the styrene bug lies dormant for years but it always comes back.
crazyjim Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Welcome back to the hobby, Bob. Where abouts in FLA? We have a club in Ocala and some other folks are trying to get something going in the Naples area.
TooOld Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Thank You to everyone for the nice comments . Like I said , this was my first build in a long time and I sure had fun building it ! I've finished 2 more in the last few months and I am currently working on another Wagon . I'm going to try some BMF on it ( another first for me ) . Wish me luck . I'm in the Tampa area and would love to make it to one of the club meets , but in my current situation I just can't travel that far . BOB.
vintagedragfan Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 very cool build Bob!, love the Nomad tail gate, you are never too old man!

mikemodeler Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Welcome back and nice detailing on that Nova! I like how you blended the two together so easily it looks like a factory job! Get those others posted up, we need to see your progress.
Badluck 13 Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 What everyone said x2!!!!,that worked out super sweet!!!
espo Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Very nice ! The roof looks better on your Nova than it did in the Revelle kit on the Nomad.
deathskull59 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 cool wagon i had a very simeler idea of making one like that but as a rat rod.
DumpyDan Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Man what a great idea, I don't know why I didn't think of this. This looks good, almost like it could have been factory, good job! What else you got show off...................LOL
TooOld Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Very nice ! The roof looks better on your Nova than it did in the Revelle kit on the Nomad. I agree . That's why I didn't mind cutting up the Nomad body . Man what a great idea, I don't know why I didn't think of this. This looks good, almost like it could have been factory, good job! What else you got show off...................LOL I'm currently doing a WIP in the " On the Workbench " section ( 1957 Chrysler Hemi Wagon ) . Thanks for the nice comments . BOB.
