bondo bill Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 very neat concept well built -all kinds of great wagons posted today
rmvw guy Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Another great wagon! The color pops right off of that!
Chuck Most Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Never was too hot on the '57 Chryslers, but a few more done up like this one might change my mind. Love the way those Rallyes look on it.
CorvairJim Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 VERY cool! This is the kick in the butt that I need to get back into my '57 300-based pickup build.
Danno Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Very nice! Great touch: integration of the redline tires and the redline hood stripes!
David G. Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That's about as cool as it gets. Great color combination. David G.
Webb Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That looks GREAT Bob! Makes me want to start work on my '53 Stude Sedan Delivery. I might "borrow" your paint scheme. Nice combination. Chris
TooOld Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) Here's some more pictures . I had a Jimmy Flintstone body , but really didn't care for it , so I built my own . The roof was made using pieces from a second 300 kit and a Plymouth kit . Other than the hood , the only modification I made was to the front bumper . A little grinding got rid of the 5 mph look ! The engine from the Revell Hemi 'cuda fit nicely . Only a little mod to the upper control arms to make room for the exhaust . Also a little creative grinding to get the hood to close . The rest of the car is box stock except for a scratch built exhaust . I used the wheels and tires from the 'cuda . Also the steering wheel and pistol grip shifter . There are a couple of things I'd like to change but I think I'll wait a while . Any suggestions are welcome . Thanks for looking . BOB . Edited March 3, 2020 by TooOld
Foxer Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Been following the build and the results are simply stunning!
TooOld Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 Thanks everyone for the comments . Corvair Jim - I hope you finish your project soon . I can't wait to see it ! Webb - The colors would look great on your Stude . I'm planning on using them again on my own sedan delivery project . BOB .
Harry P. Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Any suggestions are welcome . BOB . Well... it's too late for suggestions now... ... but I think the red lines along the sides of the hood are unnecessary, they don't add to the overall look. In fact, if it was me I would have painted the hood body color (or maybe flat black to keep with the muscle car theme), but not roof color. Oh well... you did say suggestions were welcome.
TooOld Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 There are three things on my list of things to do . First is to repaint the hood . Probably purple , and definitely with no stripes . I liked them at first but as I worked on the car I started to change my mind . Second is to buy some clear styrene and make real windows for the back and sides ( flush fitting ) . All I had was some thin clear plastic that I glued inside the roof . And third is to get rid of those tailpipe extensions . They are too long and I think don't belong on this type of car . I really like the way it turned out , but I guess nobody is ever really satisfied . What do you think ?
Badluck 13 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Been watching the progess of this build, and at first I though the Hemi Shaker wouldn't go well with the lines, but man was I wrong, its one of my favorite parts of the build, looks great.....
bbowser Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I agree about losing the red stripes on the hood. Everything else is great. I love the shaker hood as well.
