DDC Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 G'Day all, Long time lurker, first time poster! This is the Revell Challenger. Simple build, wired and plumbed engine bay. The finish is Tamiya PS46 Green/purple and a few coats of tamiya clear, all from the rattlecan. Wheels are from the Revell '99 Chevy Silverado Thanks for looking, Denzil
martinfan5 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Very nice, I really like the colors on it, well done, so are cars allowed not to have side view mirrors down under
DDC Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Not when the builder couldn't be arsed carving and fitting them
Harry P. Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Nice model, nice photos, but I agree... looks weird without the mirrors.
Mopar - D Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Denzel nice job on the Challenger super detailing in the engine bay. One thing about Mopars is that the engine bays are painted the same as the body color.
Casey Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Denzel nice job on the Challenger super detailing in the engine bay. One thing about Mopars is that the engine bays are painted the same as the body color... ...from the factory, but after that, it's fair game, especially once it receives a wicked flip-flop purple-green paint job. Maybe it was a factory side-view mirror delete car?
Yahshu Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Very nice. Is the Revell kit with the axle through the engine?
Johnag4004 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Who cares whether a model has side mirrors or not, isn't this hobby about building something to a personal preference... Hi Denzil, First of all, welcome and secondly I love the build and the colours are amazing, top job...
crazyjim Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Welcome Denzil. Build looks good. I love that color and especially the SHINY :)
slusher Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Wheel, color, everything looks perfect. Nice back ground. Very nice building.....Slusher
DDC Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks everyone! Mopar-D: I'll keep that in mind, but also remember, a black engine bay hides many sins Casey- I'll say it was a factory option, that sounds official ;-) Yahshu- yes it is the axle through the engine job. Dan: thanks mate! I have noticed some folks are a bit particular about this and that. Its all good, I'm normally a model aeroplane guy, so I can can dig it ;-) Thanks again all, with all the talent and imagination on display on this forum, I'll be lurking a while longer! Cheers, Denzil
Darbo Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Great build Denzil, I thought that you couldn't use Tamiya PS paints on plastic kits for some reason, but looking at that i suppose you can!
mickey1938 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Say what you will, mirrors or not, it's a Show Stopper!!!
DDC Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Thanks again guys Slusher: the background, is just my backyard, best lighting available at the time ;-) Darbo: I've never had a problem with them, as long as you put down a primer coat first. The order for the challenger was: Tamiya fine primer , Tamiya gloss black (TS whatever-it-is), then the PS46. All followed by Tamiya clear gloss. The PS46 in particular requires a black base coat for the effect to work. I want to grab the gold/purple paint next, but I haven't decided on what car it would look good on. Decisions decisions.... Cheers, Denzil
mnwildpunk Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Awesome the paint looks a mile deep (or I guess 1.6 kilometers to you) I agree about who cares if it doesn't have mirrors or the engine is the wrong color. Although I did not know that the engines were painted body. Over all a terrific job
